A mighty combination

Colossians 4:14

Luke the beloved Physician. Greek – ιατρος = A healer by normal or physical means.

Luke wrote the gospel bearing his name and the Acts of the Apostles.

He was a faithful companion of Paul, as Paul was a faithful companion to him.

Not at all a strange combination. i.e. Preacher and Doctor.

These relationships are of the Lord.

I.          The spiritual combination of this type does much for the Kingdom of God.

A. It raises the level of discussion and conversation regarding the work of the Lord.

            B. It keeps the other spiritually acute. (Iron sharpeneth iron)

            C. It provides opportunities for ministry.

II.        The Duty of the Physician finds ultimate fulfillment in the care for the man of God.

            A. The physician studies many years for the ministering of physical healing.

Who better to heal, than the man God has chosen to teach and preach His word.

            B. Proves that even the mightiest among God’s servants require human assistance.

III.       The Physician is a Model After Christ.

            A. Who is the great Physician.

            B. Who doing His earthly ministry saw to the physical healing of so many.

            C. The Physician has responsibility before God.
