Message Series: “Blessed: Lessons from the Beatitudes” Today’s message: “Blessed Are the Poor In Spirit” This Week’s Memory Verse “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:3   What “Poor in Spirit” does not mean and what it does. What Poor in Spirit is not:   1. Material or financial _______________________.     2. __________________ self-esteem or self-pity. What is meant by “poor in spirit?” To be poor in spirit is to: 1. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” Luke 18:14 Why did Jesus say those who are Poor in Spirit are “Blessed”?
