Jos 7; Lk 12:13-34; 18:18-30. Dan Kroon. Greed is a prevalent and dangerous attitude in the world we live. Some would say it’s foundational to our way of living; to our economy. And for Christians the temptation to greed is no less then anyone else. Often, while we are busy fleeing other sins, greed will sneak in and set up camp in our hearts. Greed is the third self-indulgent sin we are looking at in this series. Where lust is about the wanting and gluttony is about the consuming, greed is often about the having. This week we’ll actually consider three stories that teach us about greed: Achan’s sin (Jos 7), the Parable of the Rich Fool (Lk 12), and Jesus’ encounter with the Rich Young Ruler (Lk 18).
