Satan is like Saul here in this passage
You can’t do it!
This work is too much
You will not find victory!
Satan tries to give doubt
Satan tries to stop us
But David remembered the work God already did in his life
David told the king about the lion and bear that he killed
I can imagine the king’s answer:
How does that compare(taaulanu) to Goliath?
Goliath was human
Goliath was smart
Goliath was a soldier
Goliath was trained
Goliath had weapons(shastra) of war
Goliath was more dangerous(katarnak) in almost every way!
Something in common
Something in common
Bear(bhaalu), Lion(singha), Goliath
All were bigger than David
All were more powerful than David
All were beyond David’s own strength
But they were also smaller than God
With all, victory was possible with God
Every step of life is different than the last one
Each day is new and different
Each situation is different
Work problems
Family problems
Health problems
Visa problems
Bike problems
House problems
Satan attacks on every side!
But our God is greater(mahaan) than all those problems
----------------------------------
Yes, each day requires new faith
It requires new faith
But we have the same God!
Satan is like Saul here in this passage
He doesn’t change
He has revealed himself in the past(atit, bitisakeko)
You can’t do it!
He has shown his strength in past situations
He has worked in our lives before
He has healed us before
He has answered our prayers before
He has killed the lion and the bear
And he will kill Goliath today!
--
We need to see that the battle is not us vs Goliath
But our God vs. Goliath
Not our our strength vs. Goliath’s strength
But God’s strength vs. Goliath’s strength
Too often we live in pride(garba)
We take glory for victories in our lives
I got that good job because I am so smart
Because I work so hard
I got better because I went to a good doctor
My family is good because I am a good father
I have safety because I am a good driver
We often do this without thinking
But when we do this, we limit(simaa) our posibilities(sambhaavaanaa-haru)!
We will never attempt great things
We will live in fear of problems
(We become like all the Israelite soldiers)
Let’s recognize God’s work in our lives
Let’s give God glory in every area of our lives
Let’s live in faith
This work is too much
You will not find victory!
