INTRODUCTION

One of the biggest issues that dogs and knawls at the heart of the preacher/pastor today is the accusation that they are insincere about people and are in the ministry “only” for the money. It is this type of assessment of the preacher that leads many to throw their hands up in the air and walk away from the ministry in frustration, because those who say such things are the very ones whom he/she has being trying to serve. The truth is, that they could more than likely, command a higher salary with added benefits if they invested their times and energies somewhere else.
But they come to the church week in and week out, time and time again; searching the scriptures to be able to reveal the truth of Gods word and to offer encouraging words to people who could care less. Yet, he/she is labeled as one who peddles the word and pimps the people. Make no mistake about it, there are indeed plenty of people out there who fit that description; but, please excuse me here, but shame on the people of God who can’t tell the difference from a peddling pimp and a passionate preacher.
in the text before us this afternoon, the apostle Paul suggests that there is a difference and that there ought to be a response of gratitude to the former. When God has truly blessed a local congregation with a passionate preacher, their concern for them ought to be evident through the question: “How shall we say thank you?” The text before us this afternoon provides the answer.
