Abraham was the first to trust God’s promises against all adds

Faith: Believing in what God says

God promised:

An Heir

A wealth of land

Descendants would be innumerable - a great nation ; ;

God’s ability - Ability to perform

IV. The Reward

Accounted to him for righteousness

Not according to works or the law (didn’t exist)

Not through circumcision (ritual) - hadn’t happened

Find favor with God - Found blameless

Righteousness - Fulfillment of the expectations of God

V. Eternal Impact

Father Abraham had many sons

Not Jews, but Believers who are spiritual descendants

Those who have faith in the God who does the impossible

Abraham believed God would raise up a seed in whom all nations should be blessed (before the cross)

We believe in God who raised Christ from he dead (after the cross)

Through Christs death, we are now justified

To reconcile with God, Christ sacrificed Himself for our offenses… paying our debt by grace.

Because of our justification by faith, we have Peace with God through Christ

Peace: Security in God’s presence
