Suffering Wisely
Last Tuesday, February 14, Valentine’s Day, 17 people lost their lives in the hands of the suspect, Nikolas Cruz, a 19 year old former student of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, the same school where he indiscriminately opened fire at literally anyone. Nikolas who is now in custody, admitted to the crime, and plans to plead guilty if the “death penalty” will be off the table. I read an article about the 17 victims, and every sentence, every word are truly heartbreaking. I cannot help but imagine what’s going on in the mind and hearts of the families of the victims. I am pretty sure that they too, like job has so many questions that remained unanswered. Questions like, why did these happened to me? How could this be? It requires wisdom to answer these ambivalent questions. Wisdom that are not found in humans, but wisdom that comes from God. Because God is the ultimate source of wisdom. What could suffering bring if we respond wisely? Suffering Wisely shall bring me Joy. Suffering Wisely Teaches me Obedience. Suffering Wisely Brings the Best out of me.
