The Need is Noticed - Nehemiah 1:1-3

Pages 25 – 52
Nehemiah 1:1–3 CSB
The words of Nehemiah son of Hacaliah: During the month of Chislev in the twentieth year, when I was in the fortress city of Susa, Hanani, one of my brothers, arrived with men from Judah, and I questioned them about Jerusalem and the Jewish remnant that had survived the exile. They said to me, “The remnant in the province, who survived the exile, are in great trouble and disgrace. Jerusalem’s wall has been broken down, and its gates have been burned.”
Nehemiah 1
Ch 4 - 5
The need is noticed - It seems that the Lord gives notice to certain individuals of a specific need. This is the first step towards the Lord giving you a ministry.
This is the time to get involved in God’s plan. Many stay on the sideline, but God is looking for those whom He can send. God is looking for a servant.
Qualifications for servants - 1 Timothy 3:1-13
Acts Qualifications of Servants -
Isaiah 6:8 CSB
Then I heard the voice of the Lord asking: Who should I send? Who will go for us? I said: Here I am. Send me.
February 26
Some say instead, there is a need and someone should take care of this. If you notice the need, just take care of it.
There is a fear in stepping out because it is outside of our comfort zone. God can do amazing things through one person, its starts with availability. Be available to God use.

The Heart is Heavy about the Need -

Pages 53 – 78
The Lord tends to move upon a persons heart and a burden for the ministry begins on the person’s heart.
Acts 12:5 CSB
So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was praying fervently to God for him.
This is specifically true when a person is called into the ministry. The movement on the heart is so great that the only thing that can be done is to bring it to the Lord.

The Power is in Prayer -

The heavy heart turns to a time of prayer
This outpouring of the heart to God is a natural progression. With any need that is heavy on our heart, we are to seek God. Often times, fasting and prayer is required.
Keys to Prayer
Story of Pastor Piloting
Climb - Go as high as you can, quick as you can. Climb and Begin to pour out your heart to God.
Communicate - Tell someone where you are
Confess - Tell them if you are lost
Claiming What’s there - See landmarks
Conform - To do what he says, he has a view of where you are at
Be a person of prayer, its as natural as breathing.
Look through the rubble of this life, and see God
Look through the situations and see God
Get to the point that the things in this life does not bother you

The Preparation of the Person

Nehemiah 1:6 CSB
let your eyes be open and your ears be attentive to hear your servant’s prayer that I now pray to you day and night for your servants, the Israelites. I confess the sins we have committed against you. Both I and my father’s family have sinned.
Consistent time in prayer: “Pray day and Night”
Ephesians 6:18 CSB
Pray at all times in the Spirit with every prayer and request, and stay alert with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints.
2. Recognition of Sin - Personal Holiness “Both I and my father’s family have sinned”
1 Peter 1:15–16 CSB
But as the one who called you is holy, you also are to be holy in all your conduct; for it is written, Be holy, because I am holy.
1 Peter 1:15-16
Nehemiah
Nehemiah 1:8 CSB
Please remember what you commanded your servant Moses: “If you are unfaithful, I will scatter you among the peoples.
3. Go to the Word of God: “Remember what you commanded your servant Moses”
2 Timothy 2:15 KJV 1900
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

From Affliction to Action -

Ch 6 - 7
When the heart is burdened and it has been brought before the Lord, if the burden remains, there must be actions driven by faith in our God to begin the work.
He had prayed for 4 months.
The ministry at CC was in preparation for almost 5 years before God began this work
One His hand was going to be put to the plow, the wall was going to go up very quickly.
His answers were able to go quickly to the king since He had already brought the matter to the Lord. He was able to seemingly spring to action because his case had already been brought to the Lord
March 5

Counting the Cost of the Work -

A healthy review of the task at hand is needed. The mind is not disconnected from the process of faith. Although the ministry takes faith to take action, it doesn’t discount that we need to understand and review the task that we are undertaking.
He was able to be covert until the moment of action. There is Wisdom in counting the cost before making it known to everyone.
Luke 14:28 CSB
“For which of you, wanting to build a tower, doesn’t first sit down and calculate the cost to see if he has enough to complete it?
Luke 14:28–33 CSB
“For which of you, wanting to build a tower, doesn’t first sit down and calculate the cost to see if he has enough to complete it? Otherwise, after he has laid the foundation and cannot finish it, all the onlookers will begin to ridicule him, saying, ‘This man started to build and wasn’t able to finish.’ “Or what king, going to war against another king, will not first sit down and decide if he is able with ten thousand to oppose the one who comes against him with twenty thousand? If not, while the other is still far off, he sends a delegation and asks for terms of peace. In the same way, therefore, every one of you who does not renounce all his possessions cannot be my disciple.
Luke 14:28-
The Vision for CCC has come slowly as the walls have taken some time to investigate.
Pages 79 – 106

The Seed of Success -

Everyone was encouraged to go to work because He had a complete vision.
The Vision for CCC has come slowly as the walls have taken some time to investigate.
Ch 8 - 9
Proverbs 29:18 KJV 1900
Where there is no vision, the people perish: But he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
The vision of what to do needs to be received and revealed from the Lord.
March 12

The Danger of Discouragement -

immediately upon the launch of the work of the Lord, there is opposition.
There will always be the attack of the enemy when there is a work of God.
Pages 107 – 134
If you are not under attack by the enemy, question whether you are doing the work for the Lord.
Ch 10 - 11
Ephesians 6 CSB
1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, because this is right. 2 Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with a promise, 3 so that it may go well with you and that you may have a long life in the land. 4 Fathers, don’t stir up anger in your children, but bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. 5 Slaves, obey your human masters with fear and trembling, in the sincerity of your heart, as you would Christ. 6 Don’t work only while being watched, as people-pleasers, but as slaves of Christ, do God’s will from your heart. 7 Serve with a good attitude, as to the Lord and not to people, 8 knowing that whatever good each one does, slave or free, he will receive this back from the Lord. 9 And masters, treat your slaves the same way, without threatening them, because you know that both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him. 10 Finally, be strengthened by the Lord and by his vast strength. 11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this darkness, against evil, spiritual forces in the heavens. 13 For this reason take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having prepared everything, to take your stand. 14 Stand, therefore, with truth like a belt around your waist, righteousness like armor on your chest, 15 and your feet sandaled with readiness for the gospel of peace. 16 In every situation take up the shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit—which is the word of God. 18 Pray at all times in the Spirit with every prayer and request, and stay alert with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints. 19 Pray also for me, that the message may be given to me when I open my mouth to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel. 20 For this I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I might be bold enough to speak about it as I should. 21 Tychicus, our dearly loved brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will tell you all the news about me so that you may be informed. 22 I am sending him to you for this very reason, to let you know how we are and to encourage your hearts. 23 Peace to the brothers and sisters, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 24 Grace be with all who have undying love for our Lord Jesus Christ.

Finally, be strengthened by the Lord and by his vast strength.

My suggestion is to read a little each day to allow the Lord to speak to you through these pages and questions.   This is important and we should let the Lord lead us in our time and material.  Let's seek to put Him first in all we do including this material.  It's all about Jesus! Our format will be casual in our home:- Open in a couple of songs of worship- Go through teaching in Nehemiah- Last half to review material together and to discuss as a group
