Matthew 3:13-17
Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized by him. John would have prevented him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?” But Jesus answered him, “Let it be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he consented. And when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went up from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him; and behold, a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”
Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
Today’s Sermon is more about self evaluation than anything else. There are times that we are stuck in between seasons and we’re wondering why? Often, not always, a good self-evaluation will help us pin point what went wrong. The questions today I hope will help you reach deeper into your walk with Christ.
The bible tells us in that while Jesus was waiting for His ministry to launch, he was growing in wisdom, in stature and in favor with God and man. What are you doing now to prepare for the next stage in Life?
Are you being faithful in small things? Your money? Your time? Your talent, Serving? In private moments? Can your character hold up in the lime light?
Are you expecting other people to change, while you remain the same?
Are you more concerned with the goal than process? Do you embrace the process or do you complain through it? How you approach the process is vital to you learning what God need you to learn to get through this stage of life.
Do you
Being blessed is work? Are you prepared for what you are asking for?
“If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.
Luke
1 Timothy
Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach,
Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive,
Do you have a bigger purpose than yourself? Do you live only for yourself? Are you consciously aware of whats fueling you?
Is your purpose eternal?
Is your purpose eternal?
What are you holding on to that won’t let you make progress?
Your Comfort and security ?
Your Past?
Your Mindset?
Relationships that drown your energy?
Are you holding on to a crutch? Offense? unforgiveness? Excuses?
I pray that God will give you both the power and the courage to walk into his diving purpose and give you a spirit of victory.
So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
And at the time for the banquet he sent his servant to say to those who had been invited, ‘Come, for everything is now ready.’ But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said to him, ‘I have bought a field, and I must go out and see it. Please have me excused.’ And another said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to examine them. Please have me excused.’ And another said, ‘I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.’ So the servant came and reported these things to his master. Then the master of the house became angry and said to his servant, ‘Go out quickly to the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in the poor and crippled and blind and lame.’ And the servant said, ‘Sir, what you commanded has been done, and still there is room.’ And the master said to the servant, ‘Go out to the highways and hedges and compel people to come in, that my house may be filled. For I tell you, none of those men who were invited shall taste my banquet.’ ”
“Remember not the former things,
nor consider the things of old.
18 But the Lord says,
“Do not cling to events of the past
or dwell on what happened long ago.
19 Watch for the new thing I am going to do.
It is happening already—you can see it now!
I will make a road through the wilderness
and give you streams of water there.
ISAIAH 43:18-19
9 Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices 10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.
