Acts 4
Their Boldness and Focus
Their character was being transformed by the same power that raised Jesus from the dead. The more they focused on the victory of the empty tomb, their experience of the resurrected Lord, and the fire of His Spirit burning within them, the more they sensed a new freedom from self-centeredness, competitiveness, pride, and defensiveness. What had happened to them, they wanted to happen through them to everyone.
Vs 5 Proclaimation and Truth
Then Peter, “filled with the Holy Spirit,” responded. The Spirit took possession of his mind, saturated his emotions, compelled his will, and energized his body.
The Holy Spirit is both sanctifier and strengthener. He brings to our remembrance what Christ did and said, gives us the gift of faith to believe, and enables us to grow in Christlike character
Vs 13They saw the boldness of Peter and John, perceived that they were laymen, marveled at what they were able to say and do, and realized they had been with Jesus. A remarkable compliment! The same can be true for us. A Christ-captivated life enables us to live an extraordinary life.
Look at Col 1:27
Vs 19Opposition crystallizes boldness. Difficulties deepen our deter-mination. Conflict forces us to clarify the irreducible maximum of what we believe. The ruling of the Sanhedrin was a gift of God!
Vs 23 Upon their Release They expected miracles to attend their preaching! That’s why they prayed for more boldness and more manifestations of the Holy Spirit’s power.,
vs 29 “Now Consider their threats and enable your servants to speak with more boldness.” Not to shrink back, but to press further in.
Vs 31 Power was being released through them. Changed lives, reconciliations, healings, and joy were the evidence of the church alive with the Holy Spirit. The church was growing and dynamic
Vs 32 Now we are ready to go back to the beginning of the passage for the answer.
Luke tells us about an essential ingredient of a great church: an unlimited commitment to Christ and each other which is expressed in unrestrained loyalty.
