A BETTER WAY TO LOOK AT THE FIRST PART OF THIS SECTION OF THE PASSAGE WOULD BE TO RESTATE THE QUESTION.
i. WE MIGHT SAY THAT THE EXPERT IN THE LAW IS TRYING TO JUSTIFY HIMSELF BY PROPOSING TO JESUS THAT THERE ARE SOME WHO WOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED A NEIGHBOR.
