Now how in the world these 9 things happen?
Will I am glad you asked. Because this is what the church has missed.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge,
But fools despise wisdom and instruction.
I love what brother Matthew Henry says,
He lays down this truth, that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge (v. 7); it is the principal part of knowledge; it is the head of knowledge; that is, Of all things that are to be known this is most evident, that God is to be feared, to be reverenced, served, and worshipped; this is so the beginning of knowledge that those know nothing who do not know this. In order to the attaining of all useful knowledge this is most necessary, that we fear God; we are not qualified to profit by the instructions that are given us unless our minds be possessed with a holy reverence of God, and every thought within us be brought into obedience to him.
So what is the fear of the Lord?
It is a love and desire that says I don’t want to be separated from Him. Cause he really does hate sin.
The knowledge that he really will judge sin. And that HELL is a real place.
The fear of the Lord is a reverence for Him, His reality and his presence. And the knowledge that He is not only alive, but He is watching us… all day everyday .
Listen if his eye is on the sparrow surely he is watching you.
Number one God is in love with you and thinks you are beautiful and He cant take his eyes off you.
He does watch you cause he looking for you to mess up he watches cause he loves you.
Love says this fear of the lord says this I wanna please this man who is watching.
It’s the beginning of wisdom.
Why is this important to start with fear before you get wisdom?
Well I am glad you ask.. Cause will ruin wisdom and revelation without proper reverence.
Turn with me to
Exodus 32:1–6 NASB95
1 Now when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, the people assembled about Aaron and said to him, “Come, make us a god who will go before us; as for this Moses, the man who brought us up from the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.” 2 Aaron said to them, “Tear off the gold rings which are in the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters, and bring them to me.” 3 Then all the people tore off the gold rings which were in their ears and brought them to Aaron. 4 He took this from their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool and made it into a molten calf; and they said, “This is your god, O Israel, who brought you up from the land of Egypt.” 5 Now when Aaron saw this, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made a proclamation and said, “Tomorrow shall be a feast to the Lord.” 6 So the next day they rose early and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.
Exoduses 32:1-6
Now when the people saw that Moses delayed coming down from the mountain, the people gathered together to Aaron, and said to him, “Come, make us gods that shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.”
2And Aaron said to them, “Break off the golden earrings which are in the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters, and bring them to me.” 3So all the people broke off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them to Aaron. 4And he received the gold from their hand, and he fashioned it with an engraving tool, and made a molded calf.
Then they said, “This is your god, O Israel, that brought you out of the land of Egypt!”
5So when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it. And Aaron made a proclamation and said, “Tomorrow is a feast to the Lord.” 6Then they rose early on the next day, offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
What in the world is going on?
Lets say I went on vacation a couple weeks. And I stay a little while longer than I exacted.
I say Joe/Jerry you are in charge. On my way home Kenny calls me and say pastor you wont believe it. They have built a jewelry cow put it on the pulpit and I cant say what else there doing..
Everyone is going crazy. Thank God that wouldn’t happen.
I want to summit to you something different from what you might have heard before.
Look at verse 4.
Exodus 32:4 NASB95
4 He took this from their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool and made it into a molten calf; and they said, “This is your god, O Israel, who brought you up from the land of Egypt.”
4And he received the gold from their hand, and he fashioned it with an engraving tool, and made a molded calf.
Then they said, “This is your god, O Israel, that brought you out of the land of Egypt!”
Look at what Aaron was trying to do.
He was building an image to represent the on that brought them out of Israel.
Watch verse 5
Exodus 32:5 NASB95
5 Now when Aaron saw this, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made a proclamation and said, “Tomorrow shall be a feast to the Lord.”
5So when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it. And Aaron made a proclamation and said, “Tomorrow is a feast to the Lord.”
The word Lord here is Yehovah also known as Jehovah or Yahweh. The existing one. The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
So what did they do?
They reduced God greatness (this is why we been talking about glory) to a level they were more accustomed to dealing with.
I wonder is this new testament church problem
Are we still making calves.
Turn to
Romans 1:20–23 NASB95
20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. 21 For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.
For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
22Professing to be wise, they became fools,
wow!!! There it is. They think their wise but because they have neglected reverence and fear of the presence and reality of God.
They became FOOLS…
So what did the FOOLS do?
23and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.
In exodus we see a calf but this calf represent the image of corruptible man.
John Bevere says this.
Israel was surrounded by a society that worship golden images in the likeness of animals and insects. The modern-day church is surrounded by a culture that worships man.
I would add we are in a culture that worship themselves.
So what the results verse 24
Romans 1:24 NASB95
24 Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them.
And we see that in exodus the people having orgy around the image.
And we see that in exodus the people having orgy around the image.
Then this image is formed outside of the fear of the Lord. We change the very image and reality of who God is to fit our life style and our person preferences.
So again we live in a age where God changes.

Proverbs 2:5 NASB95
5 Then you will discern the fear of the Lord And discover the knowledge of God.
Then you will understand the fear of the Lord,
And find the knowledge of God.
Paul prayer to the Ephesians church was.
Ephesians 1:17–23 NASB95
17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him. 18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might 20 which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. 22 And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
ep 1:17
do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: 17that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, 18the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power 20which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.
22And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, 23which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
