Application: A believer in Christ is a changed person because the Holy Spirit lives in him/her. A believer walks differently, loves completely, and is free from hate. Does this describe you?
1 John 2:3–14 NKJV
3 Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked. 7 Brethren, I write no new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you have had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which you heard from the beginning. 8 Again, a new commandment I write to you, which thing is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away, and the true light is already shining. 9 He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness until now. 10 He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him. 11 But he who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes. 12 I write to you, little children, Because your sins are forgiven you for His name’s sake. 13 I write to you, fathers, Because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, Because you have overcome the wicked one. I write to you, little children, Because you have known the Father. 14 I have written to you, fathers, Because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, Because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, And you have overcome the wicked one.
Ten Commandments
Exodus 20:1–3 NKJV
1 And God spoke all these words, saying: 2 “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 3 “You shall have no other gods before Me.
Exodus 20:4 NKJV
4 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth;
Exodus 20:5 NKJV
5 you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me,
Exodus 20:6 NKJV
6 but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
Clarify one thing from last week. Generational sins. We all are sinners based on Adams Sin
Romans 5:12 NKJV
12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned—
Jeremiah 31:29–30 NKJV
29 In those days they shall say no more: ‘The fathers have eaten sour grapes, And the children’s teeth are set on edge.’ 30 But every one shall die for his own iniquity; every man who eats the sour grapes, his teeth shall be set on edge.
Ezekiel 18:2–3 NKJV
2 “What do you mean when you use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying: ‘The fathers have eaten sour grapes, And the children’s teeth are set on edge’? 3 As I live,” says the Lord God, “you shall no longer use this proverb in Israel.
Note: However the curse is no longer a continuation of sin but I give you a warning. Family sin problems can and will continue down the line if you do not make a decision to follow Jesus.
If you are a alcoholic their are tendencies for children to be the same, sexual sins those will follow, traits of abuse, those are generational that can effect and the cycles most be broke.
ez 18:2-3
A believer walks in ob

A Believer Walks in Obedience.
Note: i just read 4 commandments that the Jewish nation had to uphold.
Jesus says
Matthew 22:37–38 NKJV
37 Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment.
He just took those 4 and condensed into 1
Exodus 20:12 NKJV
12 “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.
Exodus 20:13 NKJV
13 “You shall not murder.

14 “You shall not commit adultery.
Exodus 20:15 NKJV
15 “You shall not steal.
Ex 20:
Exodus 20:16 NKJV
16 “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
Exodus 20:17 NKJV
17 “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.”
Exodus 20:18 NKJV
18 Now all the people witnessed the thunderings, the lightning flashes, the sound of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled and stood afar off.
Matthew 22:37–40 NKJV
37 Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”
Note: Then Jesus added another
Matthew 22:39–40 NKJV
39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”
Note: Key in on this verse
1 John 2:4 NKJV
4 He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
2. A believer loves God and they love others.
Deuteronomy 6:5 NKJV
5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.
James 2:8 NKJV
8 If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you do well;
James 2:9 NKJV
9 but if you show partiality, you commit sin, and are convicted by the law as transgressors.
Note: A few things that you need to know about these indicators:
A Real relationship with Jesus (It is not just a belief system)
A Walk in the absence of darkness (sin)
A habit of confession
A movement toward sinlessness
A realization of the true cost of sin (Advocate is Jesus)
3 Things to Note:
We Are in
A. Every Person is desperately needing a Savior.
B. Every Person Stands Guilty of Transgression
C. Every Person Deserves Death.
John 15:12–14 NKJV
12 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. 14 You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.
John 15:12-
Note: I talk about the enemy but the enemy cannot touch you unless the Creator of the Universe allows it...
God is Greater than any thing we will ever face but the enemy does a few things:
A. Sin is National
B. Sin is Natural
C. Sin is Excusable
Meaning- Everyone is doing it, it makes you feel good, and God going to forgive you anyway so just do it. In fact, walk down the isle join that church, teach a class, buy a Tshirt, and carry a Bible.... just don’t read it , pray too much, and live your life...
1 John 4:16 NKJV
16 And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.
1 John
1 John 5:2 NKJV
2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments.
1 John
Note: We define love based on feelings. God defines love action.
God’s love is unconditional. His love is never ending. His love is for everyone. His love reaches the depth of Hell. His love is always there, but it will never force.
Once you taste His Love, Your desire is to serve Him and share with others about the freedom found in Jesus.
3. A Believer Will not Hate.
Luke 6:27 NKJV
27 “But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,
Proverbs 10:12 NKJV
12 Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers all sins.
Luke
1 John 2:11 NKJV
11 But he who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.
1 John 2:
Note: These things happen because when you are saved there is a definite growth plan that takes place
Children are devoted to God, Young men want to understand the things of God, and Older Men take the devotion of God , the truths of God, and they praise Him because they KNOW Him.
