Glorification- Future event. “I will be finally saved (glorified) at the resurrection when Christ returns.” Will finally actually be innocent. Will be in heaven.

a. The ministries are called spiritual gifts. They are listed in Romans Chapter 12, 1 Corinthians Chapter 12, and Ephesians Chapter 4. Every Christian has at least one of these gifts.
To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.

And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,
God’s way of empowering you to live a victorious Christian life is by filling you with the Holy Spirit, moment-by-moment. You will be filled with (directed and empowered by) the Holy Spirit as you:
1. Live by faith.
And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
2. Confess and turn away from all known sin.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
3. Consciously yield each area of your life to God’s control.
For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

Do you want God to fill and control your life?
We need first confess all sins. We need to be clean, usable vessels for His use.
Next, pray and yield all area of your life to Him. Ask God to fill you with His Spirit and control the following specific areas:
· Thought life
· Time
· Personal Discipline
· Ethics
· Money
· Relationships

Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel,
Ask yourself this question: Is every part of my life “in step” with the Gospel?
There is a way of life that fits the gospel! Yes, we already learned the cross of Christ cancels our sin and completes the righteousness that is the basis for our Justification.
BUT---what sometimes is forgotten in that the cross of Christ also unleashed the power of sanctification in our lives. In other words, the ability to live a life “in step” with the gospel is enabled by Christ’s work on the cross!
Let’s explore this together:
First-When it comes to sin, always remember that they are CANCELED first and then CONQUERED. Not the other way around. This is key.
In the death of Christ we died.
For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.
Likewise, my brothers, you also have died to the law through the body of Christ, so that you may belong to another, to him who has been raised from the dead, in order that we may bear fruit for God.
I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
In your own words, what are these verses saying?

What is passage saying?
-You also must consider yourselves dead to sin. AND no longer let it reign in your mortal body.

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
What are we to do? Why?

Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
What are we to do? Why?
So, We died, were bought and were forgiven all because of the cross of Christ. Right? And in all three cases, that is supposed to lead to living a holy life. Yes or no?
THEREFORE- The link between the cross and my conquered sin is:
MY EMPOWERED WILL: My will, engaged to fight sin with blood-bought power.
Not sure? Go back and look—every verse above that refers to the work of Christ also calls for an act of the will on our part. It is engaging our will!
The sin is CANCELED first! Then Conquered. How is it conquered? By our empowered will.
So where does the empowerment come from?
For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.
This is a prophecy of a new covenant from God for His people.
In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.”
Jesus ushered in the new covenant. By dying, Christ secured the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit in our lives.’
SO----The link between the cross and my conquered sin is a
HOLY SPIRIT EMPOWERED WILL.
But now we are released from the law, having died to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code.
For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me.
Who is working?
Who is willing?
Who is serving?
Who is putting sin to death?
But where does the power come from?----
The will of the Spirit.
The will of Christ.
The will of God.
The will of grace.
God intends part of our experience of sanctification be the conscious, willed, opposition to specific sins on our lives. PART because here are some sins he takes away immediately. Others without much effort. BUT some are much tougher.
Can you list some sins here that are tough to get rid of:
Try not to limit your list to just sins of action. What about sins of the mind and mouth? Like anger, gossip, hatred, pride, malice, selfishness, etc.

Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.

Two things to note about this passage:
“work out your own salvation” -
Greek word katergazesthe means to produce, bring about, effect. It is also in a tense that pictures this as a continuous, sustained action.
We are to work out our salvation from anger. Or work out our salvation from lusting. Or we are to work our salvation from self pity. Or work out our salvation from (name any sin here that you are struggling with).
So, I am to BRING ABOUT, EFFECT, or PRODUCE deliverance from these sins all with my HOLY SPIRIT EMPOWERED WILL. WOW!
3. “fear and trembling”
God is in me working! How amazing is that!
Key thing to remember: I am not waiting on a miracle, I am acting a miracle.
