1 Sing a new song to the Lord;
let the whole earth sing to the Lord.
2 Sing to the Lord, bless his name;
proclaim his salvation from day to day.
3 Declare his glory among the nations,
his wondrous works among all peoples.
4 For the Lord is great and is highly praised;
he is feared above all gods.
5 For all the gods of the peoples are idols,
but the Lord made the heavens.
6 Splendor and majesty are before him;
strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.
7 Ascribe to the Lord, you families of the peoples,
ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
8 Ascribe to the Lord the glory of his name;
bring an offering and enter his courts.
9 Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness;
let the whole earth tremble before him.
10 Say among the nations: “The Lord reigns.
The world is firmly established; it cannot be shaken.
He judges the peoples fairly.”
11 Let the heavens be glad and the earth rejoice;
let the sea and all that fills it resound.
12 Let the fields and everything in them celebrate.
Then all the trees of the forest will shout for joy
13 before the Lord, for he is coming—
for he is coming to judge the earth.
He will judge the world with righteousness
and the peoples with his faithfulness.
The Psalm is about the reign of the Lord.
The Psalmist called on people everywhere to Praise God because He is greater than the Pagan Gods.
This Psalm focuses on the Kingship and enthronement of God.
The Psalmist calls the earth to declare His excellence.
The Psalmist encourages Israel to tell the surrounding nations and the entire World of Yahweh’s Worthiness which will draw them to true worship of God.
He concludes by describing the earth’s joyous anticipation of Yahweh’s rule being fully established over everything

Psalm 1
1 Sing a new song to the Lord;

In verses 1-3 The Psalmist uses the phrase three different times that literally means Sing to YAHWEH
The earth is the Only audience identified in theese comands, however the Psalmest also comands the People of GOD (The isrilites) to declare the name of God and his maraculous works to all forign lands

The New song is litterally “fresh” This is a responce that will match the freshness of God’s Mercies which are new every morning

It is important to note that the command to sing this new song is not exclusive to Israel as the Scripture says “Let the whole earth sing to the Lord”

Psalm 96:
The Phrase “His Name” emphasizes intimate knowledge of God rather than a name as multiple names are used for God. The term His Salvation refers to YAHWEH’S deliverance from whatever hazards the Psalmist is experiencing.
The phrase Day to day shows identifies the personal experience of God’s deliverance which happens every day

3 Declare his glory among the nations,
his wondrous works among all peoples.
The Psalmist says to Declare his Glory, this is not a simple command but a large one, they were to literally shout His Glory everywhere, they were to tell everyone how great he is

To be feared means to place all reverence upon God.
The Phrase all the gods refers to all the “deities worshiped by nations surrounding Israel
The Psalmist makes the point that YAWAH is the only deity worth Praise

What the Psalmist is trying to Portray here is that all the surrounding nations worship deities which are Idols and that God created the Heavens which is the supposed place where they reside
The point being that the One true God created the dwelling place of all the false Gods.

The Psalmist reflects on how wonderful God is by Declaring Splendor and majesty are before him
The Phrase in his sanctuary means that Yahwah is set apart from all forign Gods. and he dwells in a holy place. In this pasahe it is lickly refering to the temple in Jeruselem.

Ascribe means give credit, or belong to. so the idea here is that Gods glory and strenghth should be credited th Him. The Phrase Families of the eart litteraly means all the tribes of the earth.
Ascribing something to YAHWEH shows his supirority over the whole earth the psalmest invisions people from all nations comming to Jeruselem to Worship God
One day every person that walks this earth will ascribe Golry and strenght to Him

Again, we are to give credit to the Lord for the Glory of His name.
The parse bring an offering refers to a general gift specifically an offering of food or grain.

Focus on How wonderful and Holy the Lord is. This again looks to the whole earth everything that Breaths needs to be worshiping the Lord.

“Say among the nations “The Lord reigns”” The idea here is that the message of YAHWEH’S kingdom was not restricted to Israel but instead was to reach the entire world.

The Phrase “He Judges” means that He has executive Judgement in a leagle context. In addition the word fairly is used to to show equality the idea being that God will Judge all people with fairness and integrety.

The Psalmist calls for the entire earth to rejoice and everything to celebrate the Lord because He is coming To Judge the World in both truth and righteousness.
The Psalmist personifies creation as looking forward to God’s Judgement. which will be right, just, and fair. As the reign of Yahweh will be fully established over everything with Justice and equality the way it should be.
