GOD'S WORD IS INSPIRED

2 Peter 2:16-21

The Bible is a good Book, the greatest Book, God's Book.
The Bible is different from all other books and is the most unique Book known to mankind.
It is a divine library containing sixty-six books, thirty-nine in the Old Testament and twenty-seven in the New Testament.
The Bible was written primarily in two languages, Hebrew and Greek.
The Bible was written by more than 40 authors over a period spanning some fifteen hundred years.
There are a number of different translations and versions of the Bible, but the final voice as to meaning is found in the original languages and in the historical and background texts that we use.
Not too long ago there was a young Christian that was packing for a trip.
He said to a friend, "I have nearly finished packing my bags for my journey.
All I have to put in the bag now are a guide book, a lamp, a mirror, a microscope, a telescope, a volume of fine poetry, a few biographies, a package of old letters, a book of songs, a hammer, and a set of books that I have been studying."
His friend objected, "You can not possibly put all of those things into your bag, it will be too heavy."
"Oh, yes," said the Christian, "Here it is."
And in the corner of his suitcase he placed the Bible, God's inspired word, and closed the lid of the suitcase.
Let's look at the Bible, the book that is different from all other books.

II.
The Bible is the Book for life

The Bible is a book by which people are to live and to die.
No other book can claim this.
The Bible teaches us the plan of salvation

Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Romans 6:23  For the wages of sin [is] death, but the gift of God [is] eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 5:8  But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 10:9  that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans 10:13  For "whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."
The Bible teaches us the way to live daily
Luke 9:23-26  Then He said to [them] all, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.
"For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it.
"For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost?
"For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His [own] glory, and [in] [His] Father's, and of the holy angels.
The Bible teaches us to live with a purpose

Matthew 28:18-20 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, "teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, [even] to the end of the age."
Amen.
III.
