Luke 9:51–56 ESV
When the days drew near for him to be taken up, he set his face to go to Jerusalem. And he sent messengers ahead of him, who went and entered a village of the Samaritans, to make preparations for him. But the people did not receive him, because his face was set toward Jerusalem. And when his disciples James and John saw it, they said, “Lord, do you want us to tell fire to come down from heaven and consume them?” But he turned and rebuked them. And they went on to another village.

If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.
Acts 16:6–7 ESV
And they went through the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia. And when they had come up to Mysia, they attempted to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them.
b. We cannot simply sit and wait, but must walk in obedience
-Obedience to God is not passive, but active
c. We must not become blinded by a singular mission
-Jesus taught & shared the Gospel as he traveled to Jerusalem.
-Luke Chapters 10-19 all occur as Jesus is making his way to Jerusalem.
-Serve Faithfully
3. We are called to have faith.
-The Disciples have faith they can call down fire
Matthew 17:20 ESV
He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”
-Do you have faith to proclaim the Word of God?
-Do you have faith the Word of God will be effective?
-Do you have faith God will use you?
4. We are called to proclaim the Gospel.
Matthew 13:57–58 ESV

Matthew 28:18–20 ESV
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
a. We are not accountable for the response, only our obedience.
Matthew 10:12–14 ESV
As you enter the house, greet it. And if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it, but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. And if anyone will not receive you or listen to your words, shake off the dust from your feet when you leave that house or town.
