(Title) In we learn How to Pray in a Crisis (6 steps)

1. 내가 말하기 전에 하나님께서 말씀 하시게 하라. LET GOD SPEAK TO ME BEFORE I SPEAK TO HIM.

The first step is listening TO GOD

Principle: God always makes the first move in every area of your life

He initiates everything. We respond

We love him.... because he first loved us. Serve/ Give/

God only asks you to DO what he’s already done first!

We pray – because God first made promises to us! (1000s)

Now we claim his promises in prayer!

How do you listen to God? By Reading the Bible

LET GOD SPEAK TO ME BEFORE I SPEAK TO HIM.

SO LOGICALLY- You need to read your Bible first!

This is what Daniel did

Daniel is now an old man, 85. He’s had a lifetime of tests

Persians defeated Babylon , so once again – new boss (tired of change)

He wants to go home to Israel before he dies

In reading Jeremiah – he knows the time is up (70 yrs)

But also knows his people haven’t come back to God

Worried that God might just leave them there.

“It was the first year of the reign of Darius the Mede who was made king of the Babylonians (by Cyrus). During the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, was studying the Scriptures. (And) I learned from the Word of the Lord, as recorded by Jeremiah the prophet, that Jerusalem must lie desolate for seventy years.” Circle: “studying scripture” & “learned from the Word”

You will never pray effectively until you start reading God’s Word every day!

The more you know the BIBLE- the more answers you’ll get

screen Jesus said “IF you stay connected to me AND

요한복음 15:7 NKRV

너희가 내 안에 거하고 내 말이 너희 안에 거하면 무엇이든지 원하는 대로 구하라 그리하면 이루리라

my words remain in your heart, you may ask any request you want

in prayer, and it will be given to you.”

No answer? Need to ask: Am I connected..? Is God’s Word in me?.

The more you fill your mind & memorize this book... answers!

But if you’re ignorant of... wont even know what or how to pray!

CARD 1- 34 Days of Seeking God

Back to Daniel: So one day Daniel is reading the book of Jeremiah.

(A prophet at the same time as Daniel but he was left in the destroyed city of Jerusalem.) Do you want to see what Daniel read?

It was a promise of God:

“God says this to you: ‘You will be kept in Babylon for 70 years. But then I’ll keep my gracious promise to bring you back to your home again. For I know the plans I have for you’ says the Lord. “I have good plans for you, not plans for your disaster. My plans will give you hope and a future. In those days when you pray, I will listen.’”

We’re all familiar with this vs, but often leave off the last part about praying!

예레미야 29:10–12 NKRV

여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시니라 바벨론에서 칠십 년이 차면 내가 너희를 돌보고 나의 선한 말을 너희에게 성취하여 너희를 이 곳으로 돌아오게 하리라 여호와의 말씀이니라 너희를 향한 나의 생각을 내가 아나니 평안이요 재앙이 아니니라 너희에게 미래와 희망을 주는 것이니라 너희가 내게 부르짖으며 내게 와서 기도하면 내가 너희들의 기도를 들을 것이요

Note: God says “I’ve God good plans for you

야고보서 4:2 NKRV

너희는 욕심을 내어도 얻지 못하여 살인하며 시기하여도 능히 취하지 못하므로 다투고 싸우는도다 너희가 얻지 못함은 구하지 아니하기 때문이요

and promised to rescue you But there are 2 factors involved:

GOD’S TIMING & MY PRAYING

Timing: God says “My good plan for you has a timetable & I’m not going to cut short my plan: It will be 70 yrs, and not a day sooner.”

“BUT when the time is right, you’re going to have to pray!”

IMPORTANT: Here we see God sovereignty & our responsibility

in prayer

God says “I’ll do what I intend to do when I’m ready to do it. (timing)

But you must pray for it to happen “You have not because you ask not!”

screen “You do not have what you need, because you do not ask God for it!” SO:

How do I know when I’m waiting on God OR when God’s waiting on me?

- If I’ve asked in prayer & I’ve obeyed everything God told me to do

but I haven’t got the answer yet- I’m waiting on God’s timetable

- But if I haven’t even asked - then God’s waiting on me to seek Him!

Q: What do you really want in life, but you have asked God for?

2. 하나님께 모든 관심을 집중하라. STEP 2: FOCUS MY ATTENTION ON GOD

“So I turned my face to the Lord God, seeking him .” (ESV)

내가 금식하며 베옷을 입고 재를 덮어쓰고 주 하나님께 기도하며 간구하기를 결심하고

Husbands:(tip) When Kay starts talking, I’ve learned to turn my face to her.

She likes that! When you turn your face- you are signaling total attention.

My kids when little liked to grab my face

You can do this physically with God too! Look up at the sky!

(NAS) “So I gave my attention to the Lord to seek Him by prayer” The second step is called SEEKing GOD

We’ll talk about this a lot during 34 DAYS of SEEKING GOD

Today, let me just show you some of the many benefits:

“ Seek me and you will live!” (NIV)

“You will find me when you seek me with all your heart”

너희가 온 마음으로 나를 구하면 나를 찾을 것이요 나를 만나리라

“God rewards those who earnestly seek him,” (NIV)

히브리서 11:6 NKRV

믿음이 없이는 하나님을 기쁘시게 하지 못하나니 하나님께 나아가는 자는 반드시 그가 계신 것과 또한 그가 자기를 찾는 자들에게 상 주시는 이심을 믿어야 할지니라

“Seek first God's kingdom, before everything else, and all the other things you need will be given to you.” (NCV)

다만 너희는 그의 나라를 구하라 그리하면 이런 것들을 너희에게 더하시리라

o A lot of your difficulties & stress are the results of not seeking God!

o Anytime we ignore God, and we don’t seek his direction or help

God backs off and lets you, or your family or business or nation

reap the consequences of our sins:

God says, “I will return to My place on high and wait until they acknowledge their offenses, and feel their guilt, and seek my face; THEN in their troubles and distress they will earnestly seek me, saying, ’Let us return to the Lord so that he may heal us.”

That’s what’s playing out in our world right now!

God stops showing up ,,, and He allows trouble & distress from our rebellion until we start seeking him again.

o Is it possible that the pain you’re going through right now

is because you didn’t seek God, but just did it without checking in?

o What are you REALLY looking for in life?

o Is it important enough to spend 34 Days SEEKING GOD for it?

3. 나의 갈망을 표현하라. STEP 3: EXPRESS MY DESIRES WITH EMOTION

God is an emotional God! He gets very emotional about you!

Jesus dying on the cross shows how much feeling God has for you

ILL: Does tone make a difference in making a request?

“I want you to marry me” “Please stop tickling me!”

“and I began pleading with God earnestly in prayer... “

Heb: BaQash - an emotional request ... seriously seeking,

earnestly begging, searching with all your heart

Intensity reveals how much you mean it

ILL:Jesus in “I say again to you, what I’ve said to all Watch!”

깨어 있으라 내가 너희에게 하는 이 말은 모든 사람에게 하는 말이니라 하시니라

내 하나님 여호와께 기도하며 자복하여 이르기를 크시고 두려워할 주 하나님, 주를 사랑하고 주의 계명을 지키는 자를 위하여 언약을 지키시고 그에게 인자를 베푸시는 이시여

When – last time? I can tell you... when you were in deep pain!

내 하나님 여호와께 기도하며 자복하여 이르기를 크시고 두려워할 주 하나님, 주를 사랑하고 주의 계명을 지키는 자를 위하여 언약을 지키시고 그에게 인자를 베푸시는 이시여

This is called “CRYING OUT” TO GOD Many promises/examples

What was DANIEL pleading with God? LEt us go back home!

"Then my people will join together in tears to seek the Lord. And they will ask the way to Jerusalem and they will start back home again.” What a phrase of hope!

Jeremiah had predicted Babylon would fall & people would plead

You need pray this for your life, kids & nation!

여호와의 말씀이니라 그 날 그 때에 이스라엘 자손이 돌아오며 유다 자손도 함께 돌아오되 그들이 울면서 그 길을 가며 그의 하나님 여호와께 구할 것이며 그들이 그 얼굴을 시온으로 향하여 그 길을 물으며 말하기를 너희는 오라 잊을 수 없는 영원한 언약으로 여호와와 연합하라 하리라

And when will God answer? “when my people join together in tears

Q: Does anything around you break your heart?

4. 나의 심각함을 보이라. DEMONSTRATE MY SERIOUSNESS

Let God see how important this prayer is to you.

Daniel mentions 3 – 2 were cultural customs, 1 is a spiritual discipline

“and I started fasting and went without food. To show my sadness I put on rough clothes and sat in ashes.”

6. 겸손하게 죄를 고백하라. HUMBLY CONFESS MY SINS

“We have sinned and done wrong. We have rebelled against you and ignored your commands and rejected your laws!. We have refused to listen to your servants, the prophets, who spoke your messages to our kings and leaders and parents, and to everyone else in our nation.” Gets very specific

우리는 이미 범죄하여 패역하며 행악하며 반역하여 주의 법도와 규례를 떠났사오며 우리가 또 주의 종 선지자들이 주의 이름으로 우리의 왕들과 우리의 고관과 조상들과 온 국민에게 말씀한 것을 듣지 아니하였나이다

“...and now, all the other nations mock us.” sound familiar?

GOD’S RESPONSE TO DANIEL’S PRAYER

“While I kept on praying and confessing my sin and the sins of my people, pleading with the Lord , suddenly, the angel Gabriel appeared in my visionand said ‘Daniel, I’ve been sent to help you understand God ‘s plan. The moment you began praying, the answer was given, and I am here to tell it to you, for God loves you very much.” Note “KEPT ON” praying
