168 Ford Encouraged By Edison

Henry Ford once said that the ability to encourage others is one of life’s finest assets. The auto inventor and manufacturer knew the power of encouragement. He had learned of it as a young man.

Memorable to him was the time, at the beginning of his career, when he made a drawing of his newly-built engine for Thomas. A. Edison. Young Ford had endured criticism and ridicule. Most mechanical experts of that day were convinced that electric carriages would be the popular passenger cars of the future.

But attending a dinner one evening at which Edison was present, Ford began explaining his engine to men nearest him at the table. He noticed that Edison, seated several chairs away, was listening. Finally the great man moved closer and asked the young inventor to make a drawing.

When the crude sketch was complete, Edison studied it intently, and then suddenly he banged his fist on the table. “Young man,” he said, “that’s the thing! You have it!”

Years later, Ford recalled, “The thump of that fist upon the table was worth worlds to me.”

Someone may be saying to him or herself, why do I need to set here and list to a story about someone who lived years ago.

But I wanted you to hear this little short story about Henry Ford. No you may never be a Henry Ford, but you can be whatever and whoever your name is. We must remember what God has for you is for you, all we have to do is stay in position to receive it.

The message out of this short story about Henry Ford is, he did not give up.  We see in this story that young Ford have endured criticism and he had been ridicule because of his ideal that he dreamed of a gas automobile when ever one else was thinking along the line of an electric carriage as the passenger cars of the future.

No, no he did not let that stop him.

Each one of you must not let this place or position in life where you are stop you from being what you know you can be. But the decision is up to each of you. Use the blunder in your life, ues the set backs in your life, use what seem to be unfair treatment in your life as a stepping stones to achieve greatness.

There is not a person living or have lived that has not made a mistake in his or her life. The mistake may not have landing him or her in confinement, but yet still it was a mistake.

What am I saying? In order to move on in life we must us our mistake as a source of education. No, you have not receive a degree or a certificate, but you as an individual you must say to yourself I will not make, nor will I go this route again.

I stop here today to encourage you to make that decision today that you will use this situation here at present to move forward in life. Say to yourself I will not allow self pity, I will not allow madness, I will not let anger or fair treatment in this world cause me to move backward instead of forward.

Yes, it may mean that you may have to give up some of friends or some of the assists that you have. You may have to let go of some of the places that you may have gone before you stopped off here.

When you have made that decision to use your set back as a set-up for God to us me for His glory. you must not let yourself fall below your circumstance.

You may ask how am I to do this. (Please do not think for a moment that I am saying that you are negative). But when your circumstances start to overwhelm you, surround yourself with positive persons.
