Share Your Light

Good morning students!
Im so glad you all decided to get up and come to FCA this morning. Now I’m not going to take much of your time today, I just want to encourage you this morning.
If you have your Bibles, open then up to Matthew chapter 5.
So Jesus here in is preaching His famous sermon on the mount. He’s finishing up the Beatitudes and he goes into this analogy of how His believers are to be the light of the world.
Let’s read verses 14-16.
Matthew 5:14–16 CSB
“You are the light of the world. A city situated on a hill cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and puts it under a basket, but rather on a lampstand, and it gives light for all who are in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.
Jesus says that we are to be the light of the world. A city on a hill.
I want you all to close your eyes for a second. Now don’t fall asleep on me though!
Imagine you are lost outside in the dark and you see a hill with light coming from the other side of it. As you get closer to the top the light gets brighter and brighter. As you reach the top, you see this bright light far off in the distance. You realize its a city.
Now you can open your eyes. That is what we are supposed to be. You have lost people in your school. Maybe you have lost people in your family. We all know someone who needs guidance, who need some light to get them out of the darkness they live in.
When we don’t have the light that Jesus gives us, we are living in the dark. We are living in sin. Jesus gives us the light. Jesus is our light. His Bible is our light. We need to share that light with others. Jesus commands us to.
What we do everyday that we don’t share Jesus with someone is we sit in a dark room, turn a flashlight on, and put it under a box. The flashlight becomes useless because no one can see it’s light.
Its the same thing with the gospel. You need to share the gospel with your friends.
