Matthew 9:20-22

20 Just then a woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak.

21 She said to herself, "If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed."

22 Jesus turned and saw her. "Take heart, daughter," he said, "your faith has healed you." And the woman was healed from that moment.

NIV

The same account is recorded in the gospel of Saint Luke;

Luke 8:43-48

43 And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years, but no one could heal her.

44 She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped.

45 "Who touched me?" Jesus asked.

When they all denied it, Peter said, "Master, the people are crowding and pressing against you."

46 But Jesus said, "Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me."

47 Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed.

48 Then he said to her, "Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace."

NIV

Faith (At All Cost)

I.                   Read the verse on faith from Hebrews chap. 11 verse 1 (There are two things in this verse, they are Sure and Certain). We are sure that He is who He said He is and we must be certain that He will do what He promises.

II.                What do we see happen here in this encounter with Jesus and this bleeding woman? First not only is there a law being broken with the woman who is unclean because of the bleeding problem, but there is a problem for Jesus as far as the law goes, by let himself come in contact with someone who is unclean. Faith was at work here with this woman at (At All Cost). There were some grave consequences someone to be unclean and do what this woman did.

III.             If few are going to Borden our faith we must do two things. We must know Jesus and not just know about Him. We must not just have knowledge of Him, but know Him. One cannot have very much faith in that which he or she knows not. So what am I saying? In order to have faith we must know God.

IV.             Much of this crowd was only here to have their curiousness sanctified. They were not there because they really knew Jesus. But this woman pressed through the crowd so that she may get to touch the hem of Jesus’ clothing.

How did the healing come about? Was it Jesus who healed? (not really). If it

was neither of these, then what? It was the connection of the woman’ faith

with the one who had the power of anointing. Look if you will at what Jesus

said; Then he said to her, "Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace."

Why did Jesus say  “ who touch me” I believe Jesus wanted the crowd to see

that He was still all right after the contact with the woman and that the

woman posed no harm to those around her. NIV

V.                Getting to Jesus is like flying into the eye of a storm. For one to fly in to the eye of a storm he or she must have training in that field. They must have the right equipment to reach the eye and they must have experience. What happen once you are in the eye of a storm? Hell and trouble is all around you, but when you reach the eye of the storm there is peace. Jesus is the eye of the storm of life. We must stay in the center if we want peace.

VI.             This lady had had a bleeding problem for twelve long years, but when she got to the eye of the storm peace came to her life. She had to have the faith that she could make it in to the eye in spite of the storms that she had to go through. Lev 15:19-21

VII.          19' When a woman has a discharge, if her discharge in her body is blood, she shall continue in her menstrual impurity for seven days; and whoever touches her shall be unclean until evening.

VIII.       20'Everything also on which she lies during her menstrual impurity shall be unclean, and everything on which she sits shall be unclean.

IX.             Talk here about the airplanes that fly into the eye of a hurricane. From the mind of one who has no knowledge of such, it would seem foolish to do so, but to one trained to do so it’s all right.

Let me if you please end this message on a different note, but it is in itself connected to faith or being faithful.

We come here to this place called Stewart Memorial Christian Methodist Episcopal Church We come here today in the final day of a four day celebration of fifty-seven years from being born to this birthday.

I have tried from last August to just yesterday to figure out why I have such a different feeling in my Spirit since I been at Stewart Memorial.

Well, as I look back;

This Church was born two years after I was born.

This Church was relocated on this blot two after I finished High School.

This Church during it’s life span had a name change from Stewart Chapel to Stewart Memorial. Again during my live time for a long time my name was Lum, but when I got my birth certificate the name was changed from Lum to Lummie.

This Church was the 1st Church I attained when I came to Calif.

This Church was the 1st Church that I attained 1st “Home Going”

Now I believe I have answered my question as to why I have such different feeling in my Spirit than I had at other Churches that I Pastured.
