Attention: 5 is bigger than one correct and at first doesn’t seem too big a number.
What about 26,400 now that sounds like a big number correct.
Until we hear 106,439 now thats a pretty big number.
A 2010 census profile form the NAMB tells us that within 5 miles of this school there are 132,839 people living in the area of Gladstone.
NAMB also states of the entire city of Kansas City only about 20% are churched.
If we apply the 20% rule to the 5 mile radius of this school we see that 26,400 people are Churched.
The staggering problem is that leaves us to a exceedingly great problem.
106, 439 people with a five mile radius of this school are unchurched.
Even if we give them a bone and say 50% are Churched thats still leaves 66,419 people within 5 miles of MBTS that do not know the name of Jesus.

If it doesn’t bother you should be asking yourself why they don’t.
Crucial assertion:
Love/ Loathe: Lets look to a New Testament example of a growing problem and what the Church decided to do about it in , It says if you want to follow along.
“Now in these days when the disciples were increasing in number, a complaint by the Hellenists arose against the Hebrews because their widows were being neglected in the daily distribution.
2 And the twelve summoned the full number of the disciples and said, “It is not right that we should give up preaching the word of God to serve tables.
3 Therefore, brothers, pick out from among you seven men of good repute, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we will appoint to this duty.
4 But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.” 5 And what they said pleased the whole gathering, and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolaus, a proselyte of Antioch.
6 These they set before the apostles, and they prayed and laid their hands on them.
7 And the word of God continued to increase, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests became obedient to the faith”

Everybody loves hearing about the selection of Stephen and the 6 other men as the solution to a growing problem.
But this comes about only because were quick to gloss over the problem of the Hellenist complainers and the Jewish idlers.

Projection of a determinative difference:
Projection of a determinative difference: Could the Hellenists have stopped complaining and the Jews stepped up to support the Hellenist widows better.
You bet they could.
There was nothing special about the deacons themselves other than they committed to a life of being an ambassador full of the Spirt and wisdom and stature.
If Christians would focus their energies on being obedient ambassadors presenting the Gospel that unites our differences right where were at we would see a decrease in our problem as well.
Purpose:
Purpose: My purpose for preaching this message is for you to be illuminated to the growing problem occurring in our community and do something about it by relentlessly pursuing kingdom growth.

Connection to last message
In my last message, we observed that taught us there are 2 attributes to the Word of the Living God that will source our calling and fulfill it, Namely in verse 3:1 The word of God has a living attribute because its personal, and revealing.
We also discussed in verse 2-3 The word of God has an active attribute as well because it makes demands, it enables, and compels to choose.

A. Become believers.
A. First we see in this passage theres a culture problem- (vs.
3b)
First theres the problem with the Hebrew noun adjective combination translated as an adverb of “exceedingly” in the Hebrew it’s “Ir gadolah Lelohim” “Lehlohim” having it’s root of “elohim” meaning “God” literally translated the Hebrew says “A city great to God”, yet we read the assyrians are the arch enemies of the Jews.
Historical record indicate the assyrians led captives away with hooks in their noses and impaled rebels.
