-This morning I want to talk to you about growing
through difficult times.
-We all encounter challenges; tests and trials
come to us all.
-Throughout the book of James, he has
a
way of
letting us know that we are not exempt from hard
times.
Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.
-However, we can come out better if we choose to
do something in the process.
-Go with me in your bibles this morning to the first
chapter of James as we discuss today
’
s message
Persistence Through Resistance.
God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.
WORKING FOR YOU, NOT AGAINST YOU

-James begins his opening chapter with some
great advice on how to deal with tough times.

Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. any amount of trouble or resistance as an

-We should not get out prematurely.
-Allow the seasons of difficulty to

to

No
one gets to the top with ease.
-The top is full of people with scars, bumps,
bruises, and stories of perseverance and
persistence through resistance
Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the Lord is your strength.
.
-If you want to make it out, you will have to
refuse to give up.
IT
’
S YOUR CHOICE
-There are three times when a person decides to
change:
1.
When it hurts bad enough
they have to.
2.
When the rewards are great enough
they
want to.
3.
When they have learned enough
they are
able to.
-Many people in the bible had marvelous
opportunities to give up.
-Those who chose to persist, received much more
than what they had before and during the attack.
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
-David had plenty of resistance in his life; but he
persisted through it and became king.
4
-Jesus had intense resistance in His life; but He
persisted through it and today He is the King of
Kings
–
(KJV)
reigning triumphantly for all eternity.
-Job had unreal resistance, but he persisted and
he received double what had been attacked and
what was lost.
-The enemy will always feed you the lie that relief
is better than resilience.
-
Resilience is always better than relief.
-Hebrews reminds us of why Christ persisted
instead of giving up.

There is always joy on the other side of your
resistance.
-My pastor always says,
“
If you knew what was on
the other side of your mountain you would move
it!
”
-For this reason, satan would love nothing more
than to get you to quit before you get there.
