Welcome to MBF
if you will remember last we talked about pressing into Jesus and anchoring ourselves to Jesus when storms of life come
This week we will continue with that pressing into Jesus idea as we look to answer todays question
I know what most of you are thinking that this sermon is just for me, and you may be right, understand that most of my sermons I have had to either live first or live after, I believe that is how God does sermons for me is that he will take me through it.
So why not talk about worry
I know I stand up here and joke about it because if we are honest, when we talk about worry what we are really saying is that I don't trust or believe Jesus at all, and we don't like to admit that the pastor has a problem with worry
So lets dive in and find the truth
Matthew 6:25–34 NASB95
25 “For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 “Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? 27 “And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life? 28 “And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, 29 yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. 30 “But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith! 31 “Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ 32 “For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. 34 “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
The truth is that God has given us evidence to not worry, you and I do not have to worry God says so
The truth is that if God created us why wouldn’t He take care of us, if He takes care of the birds, and we are His prized creations why wouldn’t he take care of us
We know that, you and I have read and reread this scripture time and time again
Hello my name is Jeremy and I am a worry
Not sure how it started, but as a kid I would worry my self till I was physically sick, I think that sometimes happens right now
As I got older, I still struggled with worry, but I think I have learned to hide it pretty good
I worry about money and if we will have enough to pay our bills, I worry about if I am pleasing everyone, and I don't mean just a few people but absolutely everyone, even as a policeman, how can I tell you some bad news and if I have to arrest you and you still be pleased with me, am I pleasing my wife, my kids, the elders, the deacons, my parents, my bosses, the church members, am I pleasing God
If I don't say God in there then I worry about am I doing enough to be good enough for God
I worry about the many different decisions I have to make, which is why I ever ask you to pick lunch please just pick lunch
I worry about the decisions and all the different outcomes, I mean all of the different varieties of outcomes, and the what ifs and the maybe’s and I take everything to its logical end
I am a worrier
Maybe some of you here today are worriers, and you and I should probably not hang out together much because rather than pick each other up we would more than likely cause each other to worry more
But I believe that worry is a sin and I have said this to you before but I can no longer stand up here making light of worry
When I worry, I let it consume me, and like I said before I have gotten so good at worry that I allow it to consume me on the inside while putting my church face on for everyone to see
So in light of last week pressing into Jesus
Lets press into Jesus
If you are here today and you worry about money
Malachi 3:10 NASB95
10 “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this,” says the Lord of hosts, “if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows.
Rather than other things we worry about God actually calls us to challenge him on that, and Randi and I have done that, we have started to give more
Now you need to understand that you don't give to receive but you give because God calls us to, and we leave the rest up to him
What does a Child of God have to worry about? Not Money, the creator of the universe has taken care of that for you and I
If you are here today and you worry about sin and forgiveness
Psalm 103:12 NASB95
12 As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us.
1 John 1:9 NASB95
9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

This is pressing into Jesus
Rather than letting the worry about sin or forgiveness rule and consume your life, allow the truth of God to surround you and seep into your bones
see the truth of God is that you and I are sinners, BUT God offers forgiveness for sins past, present, and future sins through Jesus Christ
We take are sins to Jesus and God says they are forgiven
Maybe you are here today and you worry about pleasing others
Galatians 1:10 NASB95
10 For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a bond-servant of Christ.
the truth is hard but you and I know that you will never please everyone, not should we be concerned about pleasing people or everyone
But our focus on pleasing should be towards God and God alone
Church do you understand that you and I as Children of God have nothing to worry about
The fact that in the scripture we just read that God will take care of us, that God loves you and I so much that he will take car of us
we cannot add a single measure to our lives, worry about our lives does not add to it, but I bet some doctors would tell you that it actually takes away from your life
God will handle everything for you, and knows what you and I need and again He takes care of that
When you and I stop worrying about the things of this life and start to focus on Jesus, He works
God finally tells us not to worry about tomorrow because each day brings about its own troubles
God will give you want you need for each day and no extra
I wanted you to understand that when worry happens you and I are to press into Jesus
the question for us is what does a child of God have to worry about? absolutely nothing is the answer
If you are not a child of God, then I want you to know you can be
Scripture says that we are saved by grace through faith and that it is not by works that we can boast but Jesus alone that saves us.
Salvation is a free gift given to us
Faith in Jesus and Jesus alone is what saves you and I, it is nothing but faith alone in Jesus
If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Lord and savior in a minute I am going to invite you to the front to talk and I share how you can have salvation
But I told you I would tell you about the tables and this board
Yesterday we met at the church and were trained in how to share the Gospel, and that is about the tables and that was great and fun we were able to share with each other and practice sharing the Gospel with each other
Then we actually had to go to some address
Of the addresses we had, we were able to share the Gospel with 9 different people in about an hour
Church I am not sure of the last time this church went out into the community to share the Gospel on purpose
With those 9 people, we had 2 different people make professions of faith and ask Jesus into their lives!!!
Yesterday I was pressing into Jesus
I was worried and nervous that things would not work, but you and I need to understand that when we begin to worry and we when become consumed by that worry, you and I as believers in Jesus need to press into Jesus, allow the truth of Jesus to surround us and rest in that
I want to challenge you and invite you to press into Jesus
