We go to bear witness of Christ through the Holy Spirit

John 15:26–27 NKJV
“But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. And you also will bear witness, because you have been with Me from the beginning.
The Holy Spirit
He is the indwelling Resident of a believer ;
A resident who has no plans of leaving
He can withdraw His influence
He can withhold His illuminating work
He can wake us up if we have fallen asleep
A resident unknown by the world
A resident whom believers need to be aware of
A resident who helps every believer
The assurance of Jesus’s glorification
The sorrow of the disciples
Self absorption
Short-sightedness
The blessing of the Holy Spirit
Trust Jesus’s words - It is to your advantage
Instead, the issue here involves what would trigger the Spirit’s coming to the disciples. The answer is the departure or the atoning death of Jesus. This act of Jesus’ glorification set in motion a number of significant consequences, among them the inauguration of the era of the Spirit/Paraclete and the dawn of Christian discipleship. The Lamb of God would have to die before the new era would come. In the new era of the resurrection Jesus would breath on them as God breathed on Adam in creation (), and the Spirit era would begin (). Borchert, G. L. (2002). (Vol. 25B, p. 165). Nashville: Broadman & Holman Publishers.
Take advantage of the Holy Spirit’s ministry in your life
Don’t ignore or neglect Him
He is the invisible Soul Winner
He was sent to convict unbelievers of their sin of unbelief
He was sent to convict sinners by confronting them with the true righteousness of Christ and their own false “human” (DA Carson) righteousness
I
Isaiah 64:6 NKJV
But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away.
Matthew 5:20 NKJV
For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.
And until a person satisfied with his own righteousness perceives his inadequacy, its self-centeredness, its shortcomings, its imperfections—in other words, until he is convicted of his righteousness in the same way he is convicted of his sin—it is difficult to perceive how the gospel will be received as good news. DA Carson
He was sent to convict the condemned what true judgment is
Their false judgment condemned the Prince of Life to die as a common criminal
Their false judgment condemned the Prince of Life to die as a common criminal
Acts 3:12-16
Acts 3:12–16 NKJV
So when Peter saw it, he responded to the people: “Men of Israel, why do you marvel at this? Or why look so intently at us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified His Servant Jesus, whom you delivered up and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let Him go. But you denied the Holy One and the Just, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, and killed the Prince of life, whom God raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses. And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.
Their allegiance with the devil will cause them to suffer the same condemnation he did
John 12:31
John 12:31 NKJV
Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out.
Jesus judgment is righteous
John 5:24
John 5:24 NKJV
“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.
John 5:30 NKJV
I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me.
He is the illuminating Teacher of God’s word
Jesus’ compassion in not overwhelming the disciples
God knows what we can handle from His truth
The Holy Spirit reveals to us the truth we need in a process of time
The Holy Spirit is the revealer of the truth
Truth given from the Father and the Son
The truth given by the Son
Truth that can guide us throughout our life
The truth that would guide the apostles in their writing of the Scriptures
2 Timothy 3:16 NKJV
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
The truth of scriptures was assured by the ministry of the Holy Spirit - He will guide you into
2 Timothy 3:16–17 NKJV
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 3
The truth of scriptures is all we need - all truth
The truth of scriptures records the very words of God - for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak
The truth of scriptures accompanied by the illuminating work of the Holy Spirit was to be the apostles guide after Jesus’ departure - and He will tell you things to come
The Holy Spirit always shines the light on Jesus Christ and not Himself
The Holy Spirit always shines the light on Jesus Christ and not Himself
The Holy Spirit works in unison within the Triune God
O Breath of Life, come sweeping through us, Revive your church with life and power; O Breath of Life, come, heal, renew us, Prepare our hearts to meet this hour.
O Wind of God, come thrill us, wake us, Till humbly we confess our need; Then in your tenderness remake us, Revive, restore, for this we plead.
O Breath of Love, come breathe within us, Renewing thought and will and heart; Come, Love of Christ, afresh to win us, Strengthen us now in every part.
O Heart of Christ, once broken for us, Where we shall find our strength and rest; Our broken, contrite hearts now solace, And let our waiting souls be blest.
Revive us, God! Is zeal abating While harvest fields are vast and white? Revive us, God, the world is waiting, Help us go forth to spread the light.
Bessie Porter Head, 1920
The Witness
He has been elected to witness for Jesus Christ - And you also will bear witness
John 15:19 NKJV
If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.
Mark 16:15 NKJV
And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
Luke 24:46–48 NKJV
Then He said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And you are witnesses of these things.
Luke 24:46-48
John 20:21 NKJV
So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.”
Matthew 28:18–20 NKJV

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord and said: “Lord, You are God, who made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them,

And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.
He is being enlightened by the Holy Spirit

“Some want to live within the sound Of church or chapel bell; I want to run a rescue shop, Within a yard of hell.”― C.T. Studd
1 Soldiers of Christ, arise, and put your armor on, strong in the strength which God supplies through His eternal Son; strong in the Lord of hosts and in His mighty pow'r, who in the strength of Jesus trusts is more than conqueror.
and put your armor on, strong in the strength which God supplies through His eternal Son; strong in the Lord of hosts and in His mighty pow'r, who in the strength of Jesus trusts is more than conqueror.
2 Stand then in His great might, with all His strength endued, and take, to aid you in the fight, the panoply of God. From strength to strength go on, wrestle and fight and pray; tread all the pow'rs of darkness down and win the well-fought day.
3 Leave no unguarded place, no weakness of the soul; take ev'ry virtue, ev'ry grace, and fortify the whole. That, having all things done and all your conflicts past, ye may o'ercome through Christ alone and stand complete at last. —Charles Wesley
They were being conformed to the image of Jesus Christ
Acts 4:

Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus.
