Jesus Asked to be Glorified
Jesus Asked to be Glorified
Jesus is glorified by making the Father known to Humanity.
Jesus is glorified by making the Father known to Humanity.
Jesus fulfilled His mission by dying on the cross for our sins and being resurrected from the dead. It is only through the shed blood of Jesus Christ that we can know the Father.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
If Christ had not come in the flesh there would be no way for us to know God as He intended. We come to know God’s tremendous love, patience, kindness and grace because of Jesus sacrifice. Just imagine that every sin we have ever committed or will commit is forgiven by God through Jesus. Nothing we will ever do will separate us from the love of God.
For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,
nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The salvation of Humanity comes only through Jesus. This ultimately brings glory to God.
“And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”
Jesus asked to be glorified with the glory He had before the foundation of the world.
Jesus asked to be glorified with the glory He had before the foundation of the world.
to glorify (doxazo)v. — to positively acknowledge, recognize, or esteem one’s character, nature, or attributes.
glory (divine) (doxa) n. — the manifest presentation of God’s infinite and majestic nature; normally conveyed to humanity as superlative brightness.
Jesus was asking the Father to recognize him by restoring his Pre-incarnate state that he had before the world began. Jesus stepped out of glory and was limited by space and time in His humanity. He had all the frailties that humans have. He was hungry, tired, tempted, thirsty, angry, felt pain ect...
Jesus now has no limitations. He is eternal and has been returned to His splendor and majesty that He had with the Father. He is equal with the Father.
We get a glimpse of His glory at the transfiguration.
Six days later, Jesus took with Him Peter and James and John, and brought them up on a high mountain by themselves. And He was transfigured before them;
and His garments became radiant and exceedingly white, as no launderer on earth can whiten them.
One day we will behold Jesus and all of His Glory!
Jesus Asked the Father to Keep the Disciples in His Name
Jesus Asked the Father to Keep the Disciples in His Name
Name in this context means nature. Jesus demonstrated the perfect nature of God. The words that He spoke were the words of God.
“For I did not speak on My own initiative, but the Father Himself who sent Me has given Me a commandment as to what to say and what to speak.
John
The work He did was not His own but the Fathers.
But He answered them, “My Father is working until now, and I Myself am working.”
For this reason therefore the Jews were seeking all the more to kill Him, because He not only was breaking the Sabbath, but also was calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God.
But He answered them, “My Father is working until now, and I Myself am working.”
Jesus declared himself God.
“I and the Father are one.”
So if we want to know what the Father is like all we have to do is look at Jesus. We can pay attention to his teachings. We can observe His actions and how he handled situations. Jesus said that if we want to love him and be like him obey his commandments
Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him.
“He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father’s who sent Me.
John 14:23
Jesus was not wanting the disciples to return to their old natures. The ones that were wordly and self consuming. He wanted them to demonstrate the characteristics of God and his nature. Love, Patience, Righteousness, Truthfulness, Faithfulness.
His purpose for keeping them in the name of the Father, was so they would bring glory to Him and show other’s how to do it. DISCIPLESHIP!
Jesus Asked the Father to Keep the Disciples From the Evil One.
Jesus Asked the Father to Keep the Disciples From the Evil One.
The evil one is Satan.
He is an accuser
Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying,
“Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, he who accuses them before our God day and night.
He will accuse you of every wrong doing. He will tell you that you are not worthy to be a follower of Christ. He will accuse you at the judgment.
He is a tempter
And the tempter came and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”
He will tempt you with worldly and fleshly pleasure. Promising you the satisfaction you are looking for. Temptation only leads to sin. Sin will take you farther than you want to go, keep you longer than you want to stay, and cost you more than you want to pay.
He is a liar and a murderer
“You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
Satan cannot tell the truth. His nature is to lie. He will lie to us just as he lied to Eve (You will not surely die). Satan opposes the principles and teachings of God. He will tell us that they are a bunch of rules and regulations that rob us from fun. He will try to convince us that judgment is a fairy tale. We will never be held accountable for our sin.
He is a thief
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.
He will rob you of the joy that God wants to give you.
Jesus asked the Father to protect them from the persuasion of Satan.
“Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded permission to sift you like wheat;
but I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and you, when once you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.”

Part of our reward when we get to heaven, is to see Jesus in all of His glory. We will also get to stay with Him forever.
“In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.
“If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.
“And you know the way where I am going.”
Jesus promises to prepare us a place in heaven.
Heaven will be our Wonderful dwelling place for ever.
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea.
And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband.
And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them,
and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.”
And He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” And He said, “Write, for these words are faithful and true.”
Then He said to me, “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to the one who thirsts from the spring of the water of life without cost.
Revelation 21:
I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.
And the city has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God has illumined it, and its lamp is the Lamb.
The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it.
In the daytime (for there will be no night there) its gates will never be closed;
and they will bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it;
and nothing unclean, and no one who practices abomination and lying, shall ever come into it, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
Revelation 21:22
Then he showed me a river of the water of life, clear as crystal, coming from the throne of God and of the Lamb,
in the middle of its street. On either side of the river was the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
There will no longer be any curse; and the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and His bond-servants will serve Him;
they will see His face, and His name will be on their foreheads.
And there will no longer be any night; and they will not have need of the light of a lamp nor the light of the sun, because the Lord God will illumine them; and they will reign forever and ever.
Revelation 22:
