The Roman army could march up to 40km a day.
Practiced daily with weapons and shields twice as heavy as the normal.
Stoned to death by their peers for being cowards.

Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. I charge you in the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who in his testimony before Pontius Pilate made the good confession,

Then they led Jesus from the house of Caiaphas to the governor’s headquarters. It was early morning. They themselves did not enter the governor’s headquarters, so that they would not be defiled, but could eat the Passover.
Perceiving then that they were about to come and take him by force to make him king, Jesus withdrew again to the mountain by himself.

We have tried him, we need only an executioner!

This was to fulfill the word that Jesus had spoken to show by what kind of death he was going to die.
