Intro - Talk about Easter Invites -
Bad Days… Good Friday anything but good.
2 Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever. And now he’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God.

Lesson #6:
Lesson #6:
30 When Jesus had tasted it, he said, “It is finished!” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
Even in the middle of his pain, it was finished. It might not look like it, but it is...
It’s is finished is the SOG’s invitation to join him in he conviction that now, because of the cross, there is nothing that we struggle with that is without purpose or an end.
Lesson #6: BE ASSURED, THERE IS A PURPOSE AND AN END.
Lesson #6: BE ASSURED, THERE IS A PURPOSE AND AN END.
No Struggle need ever be again pointless. No suffering need ever again be un-ending.
You may not leave here today with the answers to all of your problems, but we want you to leave with an assurance that there is a purpose to your struggles and there is an end to them.
The story of Job is one of going through Bad Days.
In between two historic chapters in the beginning and the end, you have 30-35 chapters o f whining and complaining.
You can summarize all of his complaints in this one....
Screen only
20 “I cry to you, O God, but you don’t answer. I stand before you, but you don’t even look.
He continues this for 36 chapters...
1 Then the Lord answered Job out of the storm. He said: 2 “Who is this that darkens my counsel with words without knowledge? 3 Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me. 4 “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand. 5 Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it?
18 Have you comprehended the vast expanses of the earth? Tell me, if you know all this. 19 “What is the way to the abode of light? And where does darkness reside? 20 Can you take them to their places? Do you know the paths to their dwellings? 21 Surely you know, for you were already born! You have lived so many years!
So Job gets to t a place that we will all come to one way or another. We will all get to the place where we realize we don’t know anything. Job gets to that place.
3 Then Job answered the Lord: 4 “I am unworthy—how can I reply to you? I put my hand over my mouth.
Just like Job, we don’t know what God is doing. He gets to a place and says this about God.
1 Then Job replied to the Lord: 2 “I know that you can do all things; no plan of yours can be thwarted. 3 You asked, ‘Who is this that obscures my counsel without knowledge?’ Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know. 4 “You said, ‘Listen now, and I will speak; I will question you, and you shall answer me.’ 5 My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you.
He previously had heard of God, but now he has seen God.
1 Then Job answered the Lord. 2 I know, Lord, that you are all-powerful; that you can do everything you want. 3 You ask how I dare question your wisdom when I am so very ignorant. I talked about things I did not understand, about marvels too great for me to know. 4 You told me to listen while you spoke and to try to answer your questions. 5 In the past I knew only what others had told me, but now I have seen you with my own eyes.
3 THE ATTRIBUTES OF GOD
3 THE ATTRIBUTES OF GOD
GOD IS ALL POWERFUL.
GOD IS ALL POWERFUL.
Omnipotent
Omnipotent
Omni (all) potent (powerful) All power is in God’s hands.
So if God is all powerful, why doesn’t he do something for us?
16 For everything, absolutely everything, above and below, visible and invisible, rank after rank after rank of angels—everything got started in him and finds its purpose in him. 17 He was there before any of it came into existence and holds it all together right up to this moment.
Story God doing something supernatural. Chris’s dad was miraculously healed of Cancer.
Story of the guy in ICU we prayed for that woke up…
People say we Christians just have blind faith and don’t look at reality.
I’d rather have hope in an all-powerful God than certainty in a very limited me
I’d rather have hope in an all-powerful God than certainty in a very limited me
GOD IS ALL KNOWING.
GOD IS ALL KNOWING.
Omniscient
Omniscient
All science is in you oh God. He knows the beginning and the end… our problem is that we are in the middle.
13 He knows about everyone, everywhere. Everything about us is bare and wide open to the all-seeing eyes of our living God; nothing can be hidden from him to whom we must explain all that we have done.
Chris’s dad died 2 years later when the cancer came back.
I might would have done things differently if I were God, but who am I to question the one who knows the beginning and the end?
We ...
Never be afraid to trust your unknown future to an all-knowing God.
Never be afraid to trust your unknown future to an all-knowing God.
I don’t know everything God is up to and I am ok with it.
5 I had only heard about you before, but now I have seen you with my own eyes.
GOD IS EVER PRESENT.
GOD IS EVER PRESENT.
Omnipresent
Omnipresent
He is everywhere all the time. No matter where you go, God is there.
5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” 6 So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”
If God is right here with me all the time, I will be OK.
God is close to the broken hearted. I have seen this over and over again. I have even warned people that’s ok to feel good when going through it. You may just sense God’s presence so strong that you actually feel good...
Not in your notes
1 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
2 When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.
5 Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your children from the east and gather you from the west.
8 Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord.
19 They will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord.
20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
When I know God is with me, I can face what is against me.
When I know God is with me, I can face what is against me.
I want you to leave here today with assurance… not necessarily answers, but assurance.
Fanny Crosby - wrote 8,000 hymns and lived to 95. She was blind after the first 6 weeks.
One of her most famous hymns was
BLESSED ASSURANCE
BLESSED ASSURANCE
Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine. Oh what a foretaste of glory divine.
I want you to leave her with some things that you know for sure.
12 That is why I am suffering as I am. Yet I am not ashamed, because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him for that day.
Here are Four things to leave here knowing.
1. I KNOW GOD LOVES ME.
1. I KNOW GOD LOVES ME.
I know it because God laid his life down for you and for me. Jesus laid his life down for us. (share gospel)
Jeremiah complained...
21 Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: 22 Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. 23 They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
2. I KNOW THAT GOD WANTS THE BEST FOR ME.
2. I KNOW THAT GOD WANTS THE BEST FOR ME.
Some of you think God is a mean God. You may have thought he was dis interested....
31 What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? 32 Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?
35 Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? 36 (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”) 37 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.
God has the end in mind. We need to see God the way he is because how we see God will determine our relationship with God.
3. I KNOW THAT GOD HAS A PLAN FOR ME.
3. I KNOW THAT GOD HAS A PLAN FOR ME.
Listen, God is at work in ways we cannot see.
Eagle - Eaglets won’t leave the nest. The mama eagle will take the cushion out of the nest so the eaglets will leave the nest.
God will often make us uncomfortable to get us to the place where he wants us.
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

4. I KNOW GOD WILL BRING ME THROUGH.
4. I KNOW GOD WILL BRING ME THROUGH.
18 The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. To him be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Which one is he going to do? Both!
They told Paul if you don’t stop talking about Jesus we will cut your head off… Please do....
MY STRUGGLES HAVE A PURPOSE AND MY PAIN HAS AN END.
