Jesus shows up

I

We have come to that part of the year , that is called Holy Week. That is the week that leads up to the death and resurrection of Lord and savior Jesus Christ. So some 2000 plus years ago this week leading up to the Jewish Passover, some stuff started happening. Let me share just one verse of the scripture that was read in your hearing verse 9. Matt. 21:9

Authorized Version Chapter 21

And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.

Prayer

I would like to come from from the topic Hosanna!

Now jesus coming into Jerusalem is found in all four of the Gospels. While not all of the accounts are the exact same they all show that Jesus shows up in Jerusalem at Passover and accepts the praise of the masses.

Throughout the scriptures we find Jesus telling folks don’t tell folk who i am. Don’t tell folk that i healed you, but here is jesus saying here I am.

This is the coming out procession of the Lord Jesus Christ . This was the last time that the Jewish people could choose to recognize and accept Jesus as the messiah the savior . Because as the scripture that was read in your hearing tells of Jesus proclaiming himself Messiah, Savior, by leading a procession from the Mt Of Olives to Jerusalem, coming as a King. There was a tradition that i read that said if the King came riding in on a horse he was coming for war., but if he came riding in a donkey he was coming in peace.

Further than that Revelation says when he comes back the next time he will be on a horse, not for peace but for judgment. be ye also ready.He will be faithful and true as he renders Justice and makes War.And there was the prophecy by Zechariah that that the King would coming riding in on a donkey. So we know that Jesus was knowledgeable about scripture so he knew what it meant to ride into Jerusalem at Passover week sitting on a donkey. Jesus was showing up. You see what is significant to us today is that we have the same choice that the Jews of Jerusalem had. We have the same choice to accept Jesus as our savior. Because Jesus is still showing up. He may not be on a donkey but he is still showing up.

As Jesus shows up the people start to react. When Jesus shows up things happen. Scripture says that folks start asking who is that?

That the whole city is shook up.

For the prophet of out of Galilee has declared himself.

Folks began to lay there garments on the road , cutting palm tree branches and putting them in his path, so that the donkey’s feet would not touch the ground. A two mile trip, red carpet all the way, and the folk were there line upped , and if it was today the paparazzi would be taking pictures , the cell phones would be out , instagram , facebook and twitter would be life because the king has come to town.

Jesus has showed up. The question is the presence of God a factor in your life. Is your religion real. is Jesus noticiable in your life.

Jesus shows out

Besides Jesus riding on a donkey besides Jesus declaring himself, Jesus shows he is the King. He shows he is a prophet for he starts showing out. Somebody here knows something about Jesus showing out. Somebody here knows there is a difference when Jesus is in the house.

Somebody here knows that Jesus changes things.

According to Matthew the first thing that Jesus does is go to the temple and and chases the moneylenders out of the temple. The priest has taken a legitimate enterprise and turned into a business. They were trying to make money off worship. they were not worried about the ministry, but they were exchanging money at usurious rates. and charging premium prices for animals that were to be used for Sacrifice.

It is then Jesus This is a house of prayer but you have made a den of thieves. You see we have to careful about robbing God on one hand, and you know what Malachi said about robbing God. How do you rob God , you rob him in your tithes and offering. Are you robbing God? Are you giving your best, your tenth are you treating God as an afterthought. Also do you realize that this mission we are on is a spiritual mission. this is not a business but a mission. This is what jesus was pointing out to the priest. This is a house of worship

this is a house of service this is a house of prayer.

If jesus didn’t do anything else that would be enough, but he did something else for it says that the blind and the lame came to the temple to be healed. You see that prior to this day the blind and the lame were not admitted in the temple. That is why the blind who jesus washed his eyes with mud and healed had never been to the temple before Jesus healed him. Why the lame sat at the gate beautiful begging because they were not allowed in the temple. But you know what when Jesus shows up he not only shows up he shows out. Things cannot be the same when Jesus comes into your life.

The priest were upset, the ruling class was upset but the people were crying.

Hosanna

But the people were shouting Hosanna to the son of David. Blesses is he who comes in the name of the Lord, Hosanna in the Highest.Hosanna literally means Save us. But to the Jews over the years Hosanna had taken on a special meaning. It was used for praise. Jewish folk used to sing it in Psalm 118 as a remembrance of the coming Messiah . Hosanna become a symbol or term that meant praise.

There are other words they could have lifted

They could have been yelling Halal, the definition of praise that praises God accomplishment, oh where would i be if it had not been for the Lord thy God on my side. Halle is praise Lujah is all of you

They could have been yelling Yadah. I am so thankful to this God we serve, Thank you Jesus

The could have singing, Zamar is singing praise. But this day they were shouting Hosanna.

Or they could have been yelling Sabah

praising God for his wonderful works!

You see Hosanna means that they recognize Jesus as a descendant of David

Hosanna means they know he is King

Hosanna means they know he is lord.

Hosanna means they know his the savior.

It is its a wonderful thing when you know that you need saving and Jesus is the one who can save you. And that your savior is right here.

So they shouted Hosanna , those in the front and those in the back.

And when they reached Jerusalem the whole city was moving because Jesus had come. Jesus was moving. And because it was passover ,many who didn’t know who is this, What’s going on. Some of us need to be asking who is this Jesus person.

You see when Jesus is around , people notice, when Jesus is the focus people notice. And when Jesus is around things change. He gives me strength to be a new creature, you know not the places I use to go, or the people I used to be with or the things I used to do.

But what i really like is found around verse 15 for it says the children were praising Jesus and The chief priest and Scribes were saying do you hear what they are saying. And Jesus quotes scripture saying out of the mouth of babes, meaning the innocent the young speak nothing but the truth. But what I like about that is how could they know it is because they heard heard the adults praise. Want your children to know Jesus , let them see you praising God and then watch them praise God. Jesus did not argue with his critics, he did not fuss with them or get upset about it , he quoted scripture. In Luke he says if they didn’t cry out the very stones would cry out. Jesus is worthy Hosanna , save me son of God.

But I opened telling you this is the passion week because the praise on Sunday don’t always carry throughout the week. Sometimes there is praise on Sunday and hell on Monday. Not only does that happen to Jesus , but it happens to us right now.

For Palm Sunday there was praise on the Mt of Olives but Friday there was death on Golgotha. Surrounded by people on Sunday and skulls and graves on Friday.

Everybody was with him on Sunday , friends and well wishers but on Thursday in court he was by himself.

Folk were praising him and following him on Sunday but cursing him on Thursday.

His crew , his disciples were proud to be with him on Sunday but shamed on thursday.

there was joy and shouting on Sunday

but despair and crying later in the week.

They put garments on the road for him on Sunday , but he was stripped of his clothing on Saturday.

He rode on a donkey on Sunday but he hung on a cross on Friday.

hailed as a King on Sunday mocked a King of the Jews on Friday.

Congratulated on Sunday Crucified on Friday!

On Sunday offering peace but on Friday given death

But still he is Jesus forgive them for they know not what they do.

But i’m so glad that the Friday was the last day.

I am so glad that there is more to the story.

I am so glad that there is a God who sits high and looks low,

You see I still got A hallelujah praise going

I still got got a Yadah praise going.

I still got a Sabah praise going

I still got a Zamar praise going

because it didn’t stop on Friday I t didn’t stop on Saturday, because early Sunday morning there was some more Hosanna

Early Sunday morning there was some good news

Early Sunday morning there was a new King in town

there was a lord of lords

there was a bright and morning star

For the savior was saved

And because the savior was saved

I can be saved
