The Gospel
(ESV)
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.” John continues to point people to Jesus “The Lamb of God” God’s sacrifice or the sacrificial one from God. John the Baptist is preaching Christ and the hearers are responding to the Gospel message
Making Disciples for Christ and them Following Jesus
(ESV)
14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? 15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”
How was John feeling when they left?
Spending time with Jesus
They spent the day with the Word.
(ESV)
32 They said to each other, “Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us on the road, while he opened to us the Scriptures?” Do you look for time to spend with the savior? When was the last time you just took a day to spend time in the Word? It has what you are looking for, the answers to your challenges, struggles and ills in life. Your hurts and your pains.
(ESV)
28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Sharing Jesus with those you love
When the Word speaks into your life
Simon is named Peter, not for who he is, but for what God is going to make him into.
(ESV)
10 declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose,’
Name speaks to a person’s nature and character
(ESV)
35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.
Jesus knows the intimate parts of your life
Your Past

Hebrews 12:2 ESV
looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
The woman at the well
He calls us but not all in the same way, some heard him through the Gospel, some through a testimony and others an inner voice and then others a prophetic word
Seeing the move of God
