Last week we began to examine the existence of, and need for, boundaries. While we are people who seem to think that we do not want boundaries, it is clear that we not only need them, but that we actually expect and require them in our lives. We would not want to conceive of a land of no traffic laws, of no police assistance, of no contract law, of no guarantee of payment for work, of regulation in the medical field, of oversight for those who produce, handle and prepare our food, etc. Our lives are secure, for the most part, because of boundaries.
