Jn 1:1-14

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  2 He was with God in the beginning.  3 Through him (the word) all things were made; without him (the word) nothing was made that has been made.  4 In him (the word) was life, and that life was the (source) light of men.  5 The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.  6 There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John.  7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all men might believe.  8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.  9 The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world.  10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.  11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.  12 Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God--  13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God.  14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.  (NIV)

John 6:63 The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life. (NIV)

      Word – Jesus the word

    • the eternal Word, In the beginning was the Word, (character of his word)
      • Your words are only as eternal as you are. Your words end when you cease to be able to fulfill it. (i.e. I will always be there to help you…)
      • God’s word never changes or ends, that is why we can build our lives on it. He that hears my sayings and does them is as a man who builds his house upon a rock!

    • the Word was with God, He was with God in the beginning (what he says)
      • you cannot separate yourself from your word,
        • your word is who you are! You are only as good as your word is. Let your yes be yes and your no be no. * God’s words have been the same since before the beginning of time. What he is saying has also not changed. Nothing moves him to change.
        • A relationship between the source and the sent forth WORD

    • the Word was God.. (your identity)
      • What you speak is who you are and what you speak makes you who you are. You identity comes from what you speak also. People can begin to identify who you are by what you speak. * The WORD of God was his mind, his words, his heart, him represented.

John 3:34 For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives the Spirit without limit. (NIV)

    • the creative Word, Through him all things were made; without him (the word) nothing was made that has been made.
      • Evolution or Creationism? You have to have more faith to believe evolution than to believe that God created everything. James 3:1-12

1 Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly. 2 We all stumble in many ways. If anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to keep his whole body in check. 3 When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. 4 Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. 5 Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. 6 The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. 7 All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and creatures of the sea are being tamed and have been tamed by man, 8 but no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. 9 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness. 10 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be. 11 Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? 12 My brothers, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water. (NIV)

Change the source = change the course of your life.

      Living WordsWord of life -

    • Brought the light that gives life to every man. This light is God’s unconditional love. * became flesh and dwelt among us
      • This is the greatest part of the living word that we have to take also. We must translate our words into flesh. Talk into actions! Ideas into deeds!

Jn 1:10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.  11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.  12 Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God--  13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God.

Do I have ears for the Word of God?

John 8:47 He who belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God." (NIV)

Rom 10:5-11

5 Moses describes in this way the righteousness that is by the law: "The man who does these things will live by them." 6 But the righteousness that is by faith says: "Do not say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?'" (that is, to bring Christ down) 7 "or 'Who will descend into the deep?'" (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: 9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." NIV)

as I have believed so I speak
