The church of Jesus Christ is strange--to those outside the church. "To be great, we must serve" is a paradox inside the church, but it sounds like an oxymoron to those outside. Another paradox goes like this: "To be clean, one must be covered in crimson."
But the church reflects true reality in the paradox. And it's especially true as John sees the great multitide from every nation, tribe and tongue around the throne.
