Hebrews 6: 1 Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God, 2 instruction about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. 3 And God permitting, we will do so.

·         Let us leave (this means change)

o   A choice that has to be made, we have to make

o   Leaving the place of beginnings, babyhood, comfort, moving on because of a greater purpose

·         Go on to Maturity

Not laying again the foundation.. Between you and God

  1. repentance from acts that lead to death
    • These might be..
      • Religious as well as natural, physical as well as emotional
      • Things that have no chance of success, no fruit
      • Some of us have calluses on their bodies, not on their knees but on their heads where they continually pound their heads against the same wall in hope that it will fall. But it doesn’t because it is a dead work.

·         We are watching people self destruct every day and the devil has convinced them that they will not be affected, hurt, get sick or die.

·         Insanity “doing the same destructive, dead things over and over each time expecting a different result”

    • repentance means to have the courage to stop doing what will not succeed

Let’s repent of those secret things that others don’t know about. Those things that you know that God has commanded you to stop doing.

  1. faith in God Acts 20:21(not enough to turn away from something, you must turn toward someone)
    • people are turning away from stress today through many methods (meditation, false religion, drugs, activities…), but they do lead to peace (God) * a living relationship on a daily basis in everyday things

Not laying again the foundation Between you and the body of Christ

  1. instruction about baptisms
    • into Christ, into water, into the Holy Spirit
      • the sign of the covenant, Old song “Here I am baby, signed, sealed, delivered, I’m yours” Yours God and yours body of Christ
  2. laying on of hands
    • blessing one another, to serve one another
    • commissioning for ministry to lead and be an example

Not laying again the foundation Between you and eternity

How easily we get caught up in the short little lives that we living now and forget that we are living in eternity.

  1. resurrection of the dead
    • We will all live forever WHERE?
    • It will not end soon. It has already begun
  2. eternal judgment
    • we will all stand before the throne of a Holy God
    • It’s not a story we will all stand before the throne of God to be judged. Those that lived in the will of God and those that didn’t.

Without this foundation of looking into eternity you cannot build. Everything you do build between for just this life will fall.

God permitting, we will do so (Go on to maturity)

  • Lastly it is God who watches over us and decides when we are ready to go on.

o   God knows what we need to be ready to do.

o   You see simply moving to this new place is not moving to a new level. Before us are many new things. Many new challenges and things to do.

  • Let’s grow up in the things of God.
