John 17:15 I do not pray that you should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one (The Master of monsters((Father of lies)). 16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify them by your truth. Your word is truth. 18 As you sent me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. 19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth. NKJV

Living in a Monster world without living like a monster.

There is a Master of monsters. (The Father of Lies)

John 8: 42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and now am here. I have not come on my own; but he sent me. 43 Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. (we speak a different language from one another) 44 You belong to your father, the devil (the monster master), and you want to carry out your father’s desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. 45 Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me! NIV

V:15 I do not pray that you should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one

I do not pray that you should take them out of the world (If I were praying I would ask him to do it)

What language does the Father of lies speak?

Love yourself

He doesn’t say things like I will kill you, etc… No he is so subtle. He is a liar remember? He is a deceiver. He will talk to you and imitate God.
He will say I love you (lie) and I want the best for you(lie) so it is OK to have this and do this because you are important to me(lie). Then he offers us sin, selfishness and bondage. He wants us to fit right in with the world, have what they have, seek what they seek, love what they love, etc…

What was the sin of the devil?

Isaiah 14:12 How you have fallen from heaven, O morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! 13 You said in your heart, “I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain. 14 I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.” 15 But you are brought down to the grave, to the depths of the pit. NIV

Divorce your monster

V:17 Sanctify them by your truth. Your word is truth.
Sanctify them

To Sanctify: 1 : to set apart to a sacred purpose or to religious use : consecrate

2 : to free from sin (the monster) : purify

by your truth

Truth = Reality, how it really is. God wants to reveal to us how it REALLY is through his word.

Truth#1: They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world (if you divorce someone, their world is no longer your world)

If we are believers in Jesus, and if we have been born again…

This is no longer our home, our world, anymore than it is Jesus’

Ephesians 4:17 So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. 18 They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. 19 Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more. 20 You, however, did not come to know Christ that way. 21 Surely you heard of him and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. 22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. · There has to be a separation

o Of identity (we are children of God)

o Of origin (we come from the Father)

o Of destination (we can only truly walk with those that are going in the same direction that we are.

Truth#2: Your word is truth (If you divorce someone their words have no more power over you)

Above all other’s words, his word is the ultimate reality and has priority and exclusive right to demand to be followed. * If we avoid his Word (The Bible) we avoid the truth.
If we avoid the truth then we are living our lives based on Lies

Truth#3: As you sent me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. (purpose) (if you divorce someone your lives are going in different directions now)

· True separation cannot happen till we have a new purpose.

o Maybe it’s better to say till we realize our true purpose.

§ The truth: I was created by and for God’s purposes

§ The Lie: I exist for my self fulfillment

Truth#4: For their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth.

· My life is a continual example to others. (whether I like it or not)

· What I do is not only my business.

o There is a popular song that came out a while back called “It’s my life”

This ain't a song for the broken-hearted

§ Not true, Not anymore, Never was true, “It’s his life”

True separation, Sanctification only happens when I give my life no surrender my life to God. The Bible says I lose my life to find it.

The nature of the Monster is: I want, I think, I feel, I….If I feed selfishness, I am feeding the monster.

This world is:

Not my world, this world’s truth is not my truth, this world’s purpose is not my purpose, what this world calls life, is not my life = freedom from Monster

This world and this world’s, truth, purpose, and definition of life = bondage to the Monster

Is your life going in a different direction than God’s? A good sign of this is the Monster is too strong in your life.
