1.     Admit there is a problem (Your desire to be free from this problem must be SINCERE. Lip service will not do it. You must WANT to be free of the problem/addiction)

2.     Call out to God for help. If you do not have a relationship with Him, MAKE ONE. Pray a heartfelt prayer of repentance and tell God of your desire to be set free from this particular bondage. Invite Him in to your heart, your life, and allow HIM to be your strength during your time of weakness

3.     Begin to starve 'your monster' by taking away the 'foods' he so loves.

o    Starve him.

§  Stay away from monster food.

·         Watch what you watch, what you listen to, where you spend your time…

o    Biblical Fasting: Is 58:1-11 That’s what fasting is all about. Weakening, denying, and starving the flesh man. Food consumes our waking moments, earning the money for it, buying it, preparing it, eating it, and cleaning up after it.

§  Summed up it is to break the hold of the Monster (Selfishness) and give your life way to others.

§  Not only food, but also starving our other input gates. Eyes, ears (TV, internet, fun activities, senses, touch (sex) etc…

  1. Stay away from other wild monsters
      • First if you are just trying to break a habit, or are weak in the faith stay away from temptations

1 Corinthians 5:9 I wrote to you in my epistle not to keep company with sexually immoral people. 10 Yet I certainly did not mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. 11 But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner— not even to eat with such a person. NKJV

#. Find a partner to call for help and prayer and confession

James 5:16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. NIV

  1. If you should fall to temptation again, don’t fall into self condemnation, but use this incident as an opportunity to learn of what your boundaries and weak spots are. Wipe the dust off, stand up, repent again, and continue to walk forward.
    1. One important point is that when we fight to break free of sin, Satan will do his BEST to PULL YOU BACK. Realize this. Be aware. Be strong.
    2. The first few times you REJECT sin, it will be difficult, because you are so used to GIVING IN to it. Giving IN to cravings as over-eating, drinking too much, or giving IN to every fleshly tingle. With each passing day, it will become easier and easier to say "NO" to sin, and each time you DO say "NO," you will begin to feel STRONGER and more IN CONTROL, rather than letting that terrible addictive monster control YOU!
    3. During this time, you may also experience some feelings of withdrawal. Realize, your body AND mind (and spirit) is going through a transformation, and you may find your self needing more sleep, more moments of peace and quiet. Life may seem a little empty, but this is only because your body and mind is still used to the extreme (sinful) HIGHS you taught it to enjoy.

  1. Feed the spirit man (out with the old in with the new)

a.     Romans 12: 1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. 2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. NIV

b.    New power food, energy drinks of the word, new goals.

                                          i.    On sport studio walls you see picture of body builders, so you can get a new vision. Sport drinks to build you us and power foods to fuel the transformation.

ii.    If you train your diet will change.
