A - We should reflect God’s character

Romans 8:29 KJV 1900
For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

1) God shows love through giving

John 3:16 KJV 1900
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

2) Meeting the needs of others is profitable

James 2:15–16 KJV 1900
If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?

3) Meeting the needs of others shows the love of God

1 John 3:17 KJV 1900
But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

B - Principles for tithe

1) The tithe is holy to God

Leviticus 27:30–32 KJV 1900
And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lord’s: it is holy unto the Lord. And if a man will at all redeem ought of his tithes, he shall add thereto the fifth part thereof. And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the Lord.
Set apart for God
Dangerous to take what is His

2) Tithing reflects and builds our fear of God

Deuteronomy 14:22–23 KJV 1900
Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year. And thou shalt eat before the Lord thy God, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear the Lord thy God always.

a) We cannot expect blessing without the fear of God

Proverbs 9:10 KJV 1900
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: And the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
We want wisdom for our spending and money,
but if we do not fear God, (James 1:5-8)
Why should he give us wisdom?

3) We should bring the first-fruits(pahilo-phal)

Exodus 34:26 KJV 1900
The first of the firstfruits of thy land thou shalt bring unto the house of the Lord thy God. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother’s milk.
Give to God first - shows our priority(praaThamikataa)
Proverbs 3:9 KJV 1900
Honour the Lord with thy substance, And with the firstfruits of all thine increase:

C - As we give, we will be given to

2 Corinthians 9:6 KJV 1900
But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
Philippians 4:15–19 KJV 1900
Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only. For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity. Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account. But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God. But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

D - Give according to a plan, not emotion

2 Corinthians 9:7 KJV 1900
Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
1 Corinthians 16:2 KJV 1900
Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
It is a matter of obedience, not emotions
Like Bible reading
Church attendance
Prayer
Soulwinning
Child says… “when I feel like it”
Decide:
How much
How often
Where/What areas?
How?

E - Give Cheerfully

2 Corinthians 9:7 KJV 1900
Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

F - Give Sacrificially(balidaan)

Start with faithfulness and joy and you will reach sacrifice quickly
Luke 21:1 KJV 1900
And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury.
Luke 12:1–4 KJV 1900
In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known. Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops. And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.
This shows the sincerity of our love
2 cor 8:1-8
2 Corinthians 8:1–8 KJV 1900
Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia; How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality. For to their power, I bear record, yea, and beyond their power they were willing of themselves; Praying us with much intreaty that we would receive the gift, and take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints. And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God. Insomuch that we desired Titus, that as he had begun, so he would also finish in you the same grace also. Therefore, as ye abound in every thing, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also. I speak not by commandment, but by occasion of the forwardness of others, and to prove the sincerity of your love.

G - Be Generous(udaar)

2 Samuel 24:18 KJV 1900
And Gad came that day to David, and said unto him, Go up, rear an altar unto the Lord in the threshingfloor of Araunah the Jebusite.
2 Samuel 24:18–24 KJV 1900
And Gad came that day to David, and said unto him, Go up, rear an altar unto the Lord in the threshingfloor of Araunah the Jebusite. And David, according to the saying of Gad, went up as the Lord commanded. And Araunah looked, and saw the king and his servants coming on toward him: and Araunah went out, and bowed himself before the king on his face upon the ground. And Araunah said, Wherefore is my lord the king come to his servant? And David said, To buy the threshingfloor of thee, to build an altar unto the Lord, that the plague may be stayed from the people. And Araunah said unto David, Let my lord the king take and offer up what seemeth good unto him: behold, here be oxen for burnt sacrifice, and threshing instruments and other instruments of the oxen for wood. All these things did Araunah, as a king, give unto the king. And Araunah said unto the king, The Lord thy God accept thee. And the king said unto Araunah, Nay; but I will surely buy it of thee at a price: neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the Lord my God of that which doth cost me nothing. So David bought the threshingfloor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.
Not talking about wasting money
Be generous
H - Giving gives protection from the root(jaraa) of all evil(kharaab)
1 ti
1 Timothy 6:10 KJV 1900
For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
Balaam loved money and went to do evil
David, Abraham, Job - wealthy, but righteous men
Poor people and rich people both love money
And do evil because of love of money
If I start to love money
I need to start giving
This gives cure(upachaar)

I - Give Simply(saral-sanga)

Romans 12:6–8 KJV 1900
Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.
Without requirements(Abashyaktaa bina)

J - Give Anonymously(bina naamko, agyaata)

Matthew 6:3–4 KJV 1900
But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

This gives protection from:
Pride(garba)
Obligation(daayitva)

K - Give with love

1 Corinthians 13:3 KJV 1900
And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
Some people give for themselves
For their pride
For their internal pride “I am good now!”
Give because we love the Lord
Because we love people
(this will also help us to give good gifts)
L - Giving helps us look toward heaven!
Ma 6 21
Matthew 6:21 KJV 1900
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Where you give, you watch
Matthew 6:19 KJV 1900
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
Permanent investment!
Exchanging currency
