7 Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed. 8 And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat.
Christ entered Jerusalem with disciple prior to his Crucifixion.
He had prepared the passover meal a memorial offering celebrated by the Jews each year.
At the time of Exodus from Egypt 15 centuries earlier each Jewish family had been commanded to sacrifice a passover lamb in order to avoid the wrath which God sent against Egypt.
3 Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:
5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:
7 And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.
ex 12.
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the Lord throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.
a memorial offering.

29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

15 And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:
19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.
Bread Christ would Suffer he is the NT passover lamb and to remember (memorial) the bread would be broken in remembrance of Him
They used unleavened bread for the instituting the Lords table.
Leaven is often used in scripture as a symbol for sin.
Christ is the sinless lamb of God
19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.
22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. 26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come.
25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. 26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come. 27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
No wonder the Lord’s Table is so precious to Christians.
it is a memorial offering of Christ death for our sins and reminder that Christ will return

27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. 28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. 29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. 30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. 31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.
anyone that has not trusted Jesus as savior can not discern the Lord’s Body.
Christ set this precedent of the Lord’s table ; Judas departed to betray Jesus before the Lord’s table.

23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: Try me, and know my thoughts: 24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.

The Lord’s Table provides an opportunity to fellowship with the Lord vertically and with one horizontally.
It is not a private ordinance but a public one for which the disciples came together.
7 And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.

Alexander Maclaren - The Lords Supper is the simple rite which at once expressed the domestic family idea of the church. It separated them from the crooked generation and bound them into one.

18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

The Mass Error
The Mass Error
The lords table is a remembrance of Christs death not a replication of it!
The Eucharist - the Lord is crucified again. This is a serious doctrinal error because it calls into question the sufficiency of Christ death on the cross.
10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. 11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: 12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

Bread ans juice becoming Christ body and spiritually present in the elements.
Did Christ say the bread was His body and the juice His blood? yes indirectly
He also called himself a door
he is a light
Both are obviously physical symbols of spiritual truths
He called Herod a fox
We could take this literally but it would be hard to explain.
Herod with a bushy tail and sharp teeth.
herod with a bushy tail and sharp teeth.
Christ statement that the bread is his body and the juice is His blood -
No we are not eating and drinking His flesh but carrying on a symbolic act he instituted when he spoke which would show His death.
