He Fulfills Prophecy (6)
Let’s take a brief look back at the Old Testament to see how this comes into play; specifically through the shedding of blood and the crucifixion.
Blood is the symbol of life and the soul.
Blood was offered for “lesser” sins by pouring it onto the brazen altar.
It was offered for “greater” sins by sprinkling on the altar after a burnt-offering.
It was also sprinkled seven times toward the holy of holies.
reminds us that this can never really take sins away.
tells us why.
If blood is required, but that of animals and birds aren’t enough, what is?
If I damaged an item you owned, you’d want me to replace it wouldn’t you?
A broken hammer with a new hammer.
A fishing rod with one of similar size and purpose.
Friends, a payment for our sins is required.
Blood is demanded and the only blood that will be good enough is your own blood.
I can’t pay for your sins.
Only you can.
This is why the Savior is so important.
He was sent as a man.
One of us.
He lived a perfect life.
He could actually be the sacrifice we needed.
Foretelling of His sacrifice is seen in
He had to be crucified.
Paul reminds the believers in Galatia of this verse in Deut.
Jesus told us in John’s gospel that He was the life; implying that the crucifixion and thereby death, would not hold Him!
We don’t serve a dead Jesus, but a living God!
He prophesied on His own behalf that He would rise again.
He is God (6)
“He is risen”
Who else but God could rise on His own from the dead?
Who else can raise the dead?
Some people said he “made” Himself the Son of God.
Others made their confession out of a knowledge that He was the Son of the living God.
Matt.
Jesus Himself admits He is God.
John
Who but God could defy natural laws?
Who but God could bring life back to the dead?
Who but God knows all things prior to their happening?
Who but God could be the sacrifice that He demands?
John 1:1-
John 1:14-
Friends, as God He is warning us that we need to come to Him in faith and repentance.
The Bible says, “wide is the road that leads to destruction”
The problem for many who claim to be Christians is found in
They’ve “believed” in His name, but haven’t received Him.
Receiving Christ doesn’t mean you’ve been baptized and are on a church roll.
It doesn’t mean you’ve prayed a “sinners prayer” at one time in your live.
It doesn’t mean you try to do right by your neighbor, making the world a better place.
Receiving Him means:
Placing your complete hope and trust in Him.
Walking with Him daily as a disciple.
Renouncing sin and striving to live in holiness.
It means sharing the Good News of the gospel and making disciples who make disciples.
Friends, this is the difference in believing and receiving a Holy God as your Savior and believing in a “like” and “share” Jesus.
He is a righteous, and holy God not to be brought out on Sunday alone, but worshipped and adored daily!
He is to be Obeyed (7-8)
“He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him, as He said to you.”
“So they went out quickly and fled from the tomb”
