Opening Explanation of Weekend
Welcome to the first 20/20 Weekend Away!
We are making history.
It’s going to be an exciting day when in some years there will be 2,3,4, time as many people sitting here, and you can say, “I was there at the first 20/20 weekend away”.
Well, I hope that you are intrigued about what God has to teach us in the next 4 sessions.
We are going to think about what it means to be human, and what it means to be Christian human.
I hope this cultivates some good discussion.
In Talk 1 we are going to look at what it means to be truly human in relationship to God.
In Talk 2 we are going to look at what it means to be truly human in relationship to Each Other.
In Talk 3 Zac is going to speak to us about ____________.
Then in Talk 4 we are going to look at what it means to be truly human in relationship to the earth.
(rephrase) Christian thinkers have tried to locate the image of God (imago Dei) in various dimensions of man’s being, including man’s spirit, soul, rationality, will, mind, personhood, immortality, and even his physical body.
But Scripture is not specific as to exactly what it is about man that constitutes the image of God.
The image of God cannot be reduced to one attribute or any combination of attributes of man.
The biblical portrait is more holistic.
The entire man, as a human being, images God.
Before each sermon we will have a discussion question to get us thinking about the topic.
Discuss: To say we are looking at a Biblical View of what it means to be human means kind of implies that there are other views on what it means to be human.
Have a chat with the person next to you about Different views that people might have on what it means to be human.
