Text
Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.
Do all things without complaining and disputing, that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain.
Yes, and if I am being poured out as a drink offering on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. For the same reason you also be glad and rejoice with me.
Philippians 2.1
The Christian Service
It is full of hardship, sacrifices and frustration
It can be very lonely , especially to the minister
It can turn a joyful, aspiring person into a gloomy and moody person over time
The Christian’s Attitude Matters
Courage, guts, boldness - are all good attitude and behaviors
passion, excitement
Attitude is about the “Mind”
Attitude = a way of thinking or feeling about something or somebody, that is typically reflected in a person’s behavior
Attitude begins with the mind - you decide what and how to feel about something
Attitude becomes actions - you act on how you feel, what you think
Paul’s Formula
The Christian service is most effective if served with a joyful heart.
The joyful heart in service is the product of right attitudes against 4 "joy-stealers”:
circumstances
people
things
worry
The right attitude to bring into Christian service are:
The Single Mind - against circumstances
The Humble/Submissive Mind - against people
The Spiritual Mind - against things
The Secured Mind - against worries
