What is Isaiah saying?

(1) The future exaltation of the Lord (v. 2)

the House of the Lord being exalted (walking in the light of the Lord in the future):
when? In the last days
extent? top of the mountains & above the hills (over all others)
extent? all nations

(2) The fervent effort to go to the Lord (v. 3 - 4)

Many will say to go to the house of God because:
why? the Lord will teach his ways
resulting: we will walk in his paths because he is taking his word there.
why #2? the Lord will judge there (some of them rebuked)(v. 4)
resulting: turning weapons into farm equipment
ending: peace

(3) The future end and its’ influence on the present (v. 5)

walking in the light of the Lord in the present (because of the certain future)

Why is Isaiah saying this?

This must have been quite appealing to an oppressed, destroyed people - the prospect of justice to an oppressing nation and establishment of their kingdom.
there appears to be a hint of using this message to motivate the people of God to jealousy over the Gentiles coming to their God. ,

What is the principle?

The current impact of the Lord’s future kingdom - The certainty of the Lord’s kingdom in the future should change our walk in the present.

Where is Christ?

The fulfillment of Christ’s coming must increase our certainty of the coming kingdom.
"In the Last Days" - a time begun with the first advent of Christ - , , but not consummated until the 2nd Advent (); see also
Jesus Christ came preaching the gospel of the Kingdom of God.
Entering the kingdom requires the new birth. I have more evidence now (than Isaiah' original audience), since Christ has come, that there is a day when Christ's kingdom will come.
How should this future certainty change our walk now?

How should this future certainty change our walk now?

In the future, the presence of God will be the dominating influence, in the present the presence of God must be the dominating influence in every believer/church - ,
In the future, all nations will flow unto it, in the present, all nations should be reached with the gospel of the kingdom -
In the future, all will long for the teaching of God's ways, in the present there should be a hunger for the word of God -
In the future, the teaching will result in belief/obedience, in the present the scriptures deserve to be believed and obeyed. -
In the future, righteous judgment will result in peace, in the present children of the kingdom are to be peacemakers. -
