41 “Keep watching and praying that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
Jesus has gone
Intro - welcome
Recap from earlier
Jesus is no longer at the grave
Jesus is no longer on the cross
Jesus is not in a program, or a book
Jesus got off the cross and out of the grave
Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father
If you will recall early I told that we would look at where Jesus went, if He is not in the grave any more
67 “If You are the Christ, tell us.” But He said to them, “If I tell you, you will not believe; 68 and if I ask a question, you will not answer. 69 “But from now on the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God.”
During the trial, Jesus goes on to tell them at the trial that He will be seated at the right hand of the Father, that He will be with the Father
So like we said earlier, He is not in the grave, He is not in a program, or at a camp, Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father in Heaven
Like we said earlier that you and I no longer need to search for the Living Jesus in the dead things of this world, it makes no sense for us to because we know that He is not there
Just like He told the women and disciples, and just like He told us that He would rise from the grave
Just like He has told us where He is
Jesus all tells us what He is doing
2 “In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. 3 “If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.
Jesus has left this physical world to prepare a place for both you and I
Why is He preparing a place for you and I
Jesus died on the cross that way you and I would have a way to get to Heaven to spend eternity with Jesus
Well if you believe that Jesus has died and rose from the grave and confess with your mouth that He is Lord, then you need a place to stay when you get to heaven right
Because Jesus made it possible for us to get into heaven by His death on the cross and resurrection, then it would make sense for Jesus to be preparing a place for you up there
You see God loves us so much and desires to have a relationship with each and every one of us
The problem is that you and I have fallen short of the perfect standard set by Jesus
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
says that you and I are sinners
God who is a perfect God cannot and will not be a part of sin, which causes a problem for us to be able to get to him and for him to get to us
The Bible says that there is nothing you and I can do to get to God, infact you and I can never be good or clean enough
bummer right, I mean just when you think you start to get things figured out and on the right track, you show up to church today and hear you can never be good enough, well its true, and it is truth from the word of God
but
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.
The Bible says that salvation through Christ Jesus is a gift from God
The free gift is that God the Father laid our sin and junk on Jesus the perfect sacfirce and Jesus took our punishment for us
How awesome is that
21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
6 All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all To fall on Him.
Jesus took our sin with him on the cross, all of our past sin, all of our present sin, and all of our future sin and took it from us and carried it to the cross and it died with him on the cross
3 days later Jesus defeated death, so that you and I would no longer have to be dead in our sins
Jesus is alive
47 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life.
9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.”
Closing
If you have never done what says, about confessing and believing in your heart, would you come to the front if that is something you want to do, we want to talk with you and pray with you and show you how you can have a personal relationship with Jesus
Maybe you are here and you understand that Jesus is preparing a place and in fact He is preparing a place for you but you have slipped and fallen by the way side, would you want to recommit your life to Christ
Maybe you are here and God is telling you to Join this local body of believers
or maybe you just need to spend sometime in prayer with the Father
