Luke 23:44–47 NIV
It was now about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon, for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two. Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” When he had said this, he breathed his last. The centurion, seeing what had happened, praised God and said, “Surely this was a righteous man.”

SATISIFIED GODS JUSTICE

God’s justice law breakers have to pay the penalty

Fitting that Jesus’ last words from the cross is a prayer

We can know 4 things from His last words

YOU HAVE A FATHER!
He loves you
This prayer reminds us of a time when Jesus’ followers were asking Jesus how to pray ()
Jesus begins with “Our Father...”
This was huge!
They grew up learning this
“Abba..”
Here, when Jesus is dying on the cross - crys out Abba
I don’t know if some of you here dont know this
God is a loving compassionate God

As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him;
Whatever it is you are going through
God desires a relationship with you
He desires this intimate relationship with you
You have a Father in heaven who loves you
He is crazy about you
He wants to help you

Your Father can be TRUSTED
He can be trusted

What is it you need to entrust to your Heavenly Father?
Health, finances, relationships, marriage, future, etc

“...I commit my spirit.”

My Father is going to take care of the things that I can’t even see
My spirit
While you are waiting - God is working
Praying - trust God
You may not see things - He can see you

“...into your HANDS...”

Your Father can handle anything you put into HIS HANDS

Saving you is all His work

It’s all ready been done for you - all you have to do is accept it
How can i be set free? After all I have done
He set you free
Whatever it is that is keeping you captive - He can set you free!
The hands of Jesus are scarred with nail prints so He cant forget me
In heaven..we will have no scars
The only one who will have scars is Jesus
