Prayer
1 Corinthians 15:3–6 NLT
I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said. He was seen by Peter and then by the Twelve. After that, he was seen by more than 500 of his followers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died.
1 Corinthians 2:1–2 ESV
And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom. For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.
1 Corinthians 2:1-2
1 Corinthians 15:3–4 NLT
I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said.
Some may call it foolish and impossible
1 Corinthians 15:3–4 ESV
For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures,
Doubts?
1 Corinthians 15:3-6
Doubts?
Some may call it foolish and impossible
Foolish: Absurd, Ridiculous
Impossible: Can’t happen
Scandalous: Offensive and Shocking to someone’s morality
Foolishness
1 Corinthians 1:18 ESV
For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are headed for destruction, but to us who
Today we celebrate the power of God who sent Jesus as our rescuer:
But with every heart it rescues it’s a miracle
Jesus took our place - call it grace
[5-12] Main Scripture
What the believer has through faith (peace, grace…we rejoice!)
Romans 5:1–2 ESV
Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

Christ Crucified for Love
Christ Crucified for love of sinners
Romans 5:6–11 ESV
For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
Romans 5:1-
Romans 5:1–11 ESV
Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. [14] Scripture
Purchased on the cross
Ephesians 1:7 NLT
He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins.
The Problem
[15] Scripture
The Problem
We have all done things that are wrong and failed to obey God. Because of this sin we are separated from God. Separation from God and the wages of our sin is death, and by ourselves we can do nothing to become united with God.
Why Jesus Can Help
Jesus was not only man; he was God’s unique Son. Because Jesus never disobeyed God and never sinned, only he can bridge the gap between a sinless God and a sinful people.
The Solution
Jesus freely offered his life for us, dying on the cross in our place, taking all our wrongdoing upon himself, and saving us from the consequences of sin - including God’s judgement and death.
The Results
Forgiveness and grace. Jesus took our past, present and future sins upon himself so that we could have new life.
All our wrongdoing is forgiven and we are reconciled to God.
Furthermore, Jesus’ resurrection from the dead is the proof that his substitutionary sacrifice on the cross is the source of new life for all who believe that Jesus is the Son of God.
All who believe in him can have new life and a new union with him.
[15] Scripture
He is Faithful
1 John 1:9 ESV
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
To confess a sin means to uncover it and call it exactly what God calls it. Sin.
To confess a sin means to uncover it and call it exactly what God calls it. Sin.
Making this honest confession has to include a willingness to renounce/give up the sin.
God promises not only to forgive us, but also to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
