The Historic Certainty of Jesus’ Resurrection

Paul, one of the most famous Christians… is explaining the gospel Here he states the meaning of the gospel Christ died He was buried He rose again on the third day Historical Fact We could reference the authenticity of written historical records that mention Jesus’ resurrection. We could cite the fact that all 10 of 11 of his disciples died a martyrs death because they saw him alive after his death in his resurrected body. We could talk about the many authors in our day who have set out to prove the resurrection false, but instead, have ended up giving their lives to Jesus. The Guarantee
The Guarantee
But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead also comes through a man. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive. But each in his own order: Christ, the firstfruits; afterward, at His coming, those who belong to Christ.
Provided For Resurrection
Provided For Resurrection
But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. But each one in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who are Christ’s at His coming.
Explain
We’ve established the fact of Jesus’ resurrection
One of the implications of it, is that Those who belong to Jesus Christ will also experience a bodily resurrection.
When we hear the word “resurrection” we often apply that to Jesus. But the Bible clearly teaches that more than that
And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.
If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection.
And just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so the Son also gives life to anyone He wants to.
Do not be amazed at this, because a time is coming when all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come out—those who have done good things, to the resurrection of life, but those who have done wicked things, to the resurrection of judgment.
You are an eternal being. You will live forever.

The first fruits of a crop indicate that there is more to come.
The Bible says that you were made in the image of God.
The Bible says that God ordained your life; you are His creation.

The Body
The Body
But someone will say, “How are the dead raised up? And with what body do they come?”
Explain
Then Paul goes on to talk about different types of bodies
(bodies for plants, humans, animals)
They each have a shape designed by God with certain features and limitations to serve a certain purpose.
So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption. It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power. It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
1 Cor 15
Here’s the key word: “incorruptible”.
“So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption. It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power. It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.” (1 Corinthians 15:42–44, NKJV)
“immortality”
“the inability of an organic substance to break down or decay.
This is the type of body that you will have for all eternity.
Illustrate
Can you imagine having a body that doesn’t experience corruption?
We live in a world of corruption.
Everything is getting worse.
cars
books
houses and, yes,
our bodies.
No bruises, no cuts, no pain.
Things don’t get worse.
No cancer, no degenerative discs.
This is a new body that you, if you believe in Jesus, you will receive.
Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption.
Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed—
in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”
“O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?”
The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law.
What will these bodies be like?
“Super-hero” version of you
or maybe I should say “super-natural”
We don’t a whole lot, but we do know some.

Ask Him to forgive you.
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me, even if he dies, will live.
