1 Corinthians 15:3–6 NASB95
3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. 6 After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep;

1 Corinthians 15:12–20 NASB95
12 Now if Christ is preached, that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, not even Christ has been raised; 14 and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain. 15 Moreover we are even found to be false witnesses of God, because we testified against God that He raised Christ, whom He did not raise, if in fact the dead are not raised. 16 For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised; 17 and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins. 18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. 19 If we have hoped in Christ in this life only, we are of all men most to be pitied. 20 But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep.
Look at your neighbor and say, “This at No JOKE! There will be a resurrection.
In our text Paul is laying out a case for the Resurrection
this is not just spiritual or logical. but factual
Paul says in verse 3 of our text. “For I delivered to you as of first importance.”
in essence the next statement that i am about the make is of supreme importance. its the most important thing that i can tell of give you.
“Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.”
its over ultimate importance that you see and understand this. wake up.. listen close.. there is reason today for celebration.

Christ has died for our sin… just as the scriptures said and declares

Isaiah 1:18 says
Isaiah 1:18 NASB95
18 “Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord, “Though your sins are as scarlet, They will be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They will be like wool.
is 1:18
His death on the cross has made a way as a source of calm in the eye of chaos.
1 John 1:7 NASB95
7 but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.
1john 1:17
badly cover in sin his death makes a way of cleaning for us
Ephesians 1:7 NASB95
7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace
Ephesians 2:13 NASB95
13 But now in Christ Jesus you who formerly were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

He was buried.

eph 2
in essence he went to the darkest and worst place… He went to the darkness to bring us light.. he went into pure chaos to bring us the resurrection.
Hebrews 12:24 NIV
24 to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.
He went to Hell for me
Matthew 12:40 NASB95
40 for just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the sea monster, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
Matthew 12:20 NASB95
20 “A battered reed He will not break off, And a smoldering wick He will not put out, Until He leads justice to victory.
but the grave could hold Him.
matthew 12
Hebrews 12:2 NASB95
2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
he
Paul says,

and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures

Jesus’ resurrection from the death stands alone as the greatest and most miraculous of all the miracles in human history.
paul says, “He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures”
The beauty of the bible is that in its presentation, every page houses the gospel story.
You can find jesus working, you can see his beauty.
He sit on every page of the bible. Clearly displaying and revealing His redemption story.
In the beginning Genesis says God created the heavens and the earth.
Genesis 1:1 NASB95
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Gen 1:1
verse 2
Genesis 1:2 NASB95
2 The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters.
notice the chaos
The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep
verse 3 tell us how God then deals with this chaos.
Genesis 1:3 NASB95
3 Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.
The word of God come
Chaos is A condition or place of great disorder or confusion.
it knows no boundaries or limit.
God speaks the word into the chaos and bring order.
In the mist of chaos He speaks
In the mist of chaos He speaks
Let there be
Let there be light!
Words... i dont care what you say, your words matters.
that’s why the Bible says a soft word, a gentle response, turns away wrath or wrath. But a harsh word stirs up anger.
In chaotic times we have to watch our speech because word can bring worth clarity or future division. Let there be light!
In chaotic times we have to watch what comes out of our mouth because word can bring clarity or future division.
watch what you say.. be careful how you speak to one other..
thats why there laws again yelling fire in a movie theater. chaos can be harmful
So God says, “Let there be light!”
Thats good!
Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.”

Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.”

Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.”
thats good

Let the waters below the heavens be gathered into one place, and let the dry land appear

Let the waters below the heavens be gathered into one place, and let the dry land appear
Let the waters below the heavens be gathered into one place, and let the dry land appear
Thats good
Let the earth sprout a vegetation,
thats good
Let the earth sprout avegetation,
he made living creatures birds and animals… let them be fruitful.. let them bring forth after there on kind
thats good too
then hes crowning creation he says
Let Us make man in Our image
and he said thats VERY GOOD
God’s words were God. God’s Word is GOOD… Thats why we need to be reading our bible....
Have you every heard a sermon that moved your heart to
in the mist of chaos the word came and brought forth order
Action.
That pierced your spirit causing conviction.
That’s what happens when His truth comes into your chaos
in the mist of chaos the word came and brought forth order
out of death he forth life.. why ? because there is going to be a resurrection
im gonna preach after while
john makes it more clear when he say
John 1:1 NASB95
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
john 1:1
Not only did God speak the word into choas he sent the word into choas
John 1:4 NASB95
4 In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men.
John 1:3 NASB95
3 All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.
John 1:2 NASB95
2 He was in the beginning with God.
John 1:4–5 NASB95
4 In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. 5 The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
verse 14 lets us know that that word is Jesus in the Flesh
what are you saying Pastor Derrick? well im glad you ask
Jesus is the only solution to the chaos in your life and this world
Not only does He speak a word into the chaos he literally comes Himself into that chaos.
there might be chaos but…
I think of Shadrach, Meshach and a big negro.
They in 3. But when they looked again they saw 4
We doesn’t just speak to me in the chaos. He comes and says. Low I will be with you always.
there might be chaos but…
there is going to be a resurrection
no April fools joke here.. He has risen and risen indeed.
in the Garden the serpent walks over to eve..
The Heart of a son The Heart of a son

He asked Eve, “God said you can eat of the tree in the garden, right?

He asked her, “God said you can eat of the tree in the garden, right?
He asked Eve, “God said you can eat of the tree in the garden, right?
The Heart of a son The Heart of a son

Eve replies,“Well, God told us we can’t touch the tree of the knowledge of good and evil or we will die.”

Eve replies,“Well, God told us we can’t touch the tree of the knowledge of good and evil or we will die.”
Eve replies,“Well, God told us we can’t touch the tree of the knowledge of good and evil or we will die.”
she acknowledges the safety in the order and the chaos in the disobedience
order is stability and chaos is that stability crumbling under our feet
eve’s whole world is about to change as she takes the fruit and give it to Adam.
Their eyes were open…
Romans 8:6 NASB95
6 For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace,
Genesis 3:9 NASB95
9 Then the Lord God called to the man, and said to him, “Where are you?”
The Heart of a son The Heart of a son

They are lost because they were separated

They are lost because they were separated
adam replied
Genesis 3:10 NASB95
10 He said, “I heard the sound of You in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself.”
gen 3
They are lost because they were separated
God didn't give Him the spirit of Fear
man become isolated and alienated and cured
i was afraid because i was naked..
why are you afraid now.. you have always been naked. what change?
man became self-conscience
he sees hes weakness , his shortcomings and his problem.. and instead of running to God. he runs from Him...
total chaos… but i got good news.. help me preach this
there will be a resurrection
look at what he says in to Eve in
Genesis 3:16 NASB95
16 To the woman He said, “I will greatly multiply Your pain in childbirth, In pain you will bring forth children; Yet your desire will be for your husband, And he will rule over you.”
Notice the result of chaos is pain..
if you want to get rid of the pain, lets first deal with the chaos..
The idea in the creation story is that order come forth out of chaos.and this is the hope that even if the worst of things happen to us..
if we fall into the worst of sins.
if our marriages face the hardest of time.
THERE WILL BE A RESURRECTION
look at the promise that comes out of the chaos
look at what GOD tells the serpent
he cures him in verse 14
and in verse 15 he saids… Her seed will crush your head
and in verse 21
God kills an animal and clovers them with the bloody skin of the animal. Showing us “ for something guilty to live something innocent must die.”
Only blood can cover sin
Paul tells us in our text.
For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
you messed up and did wrong, but Jesus got up and did right…
out of chaos the prophecied seed.. the word that became flesh.. jesus came to us..
the persecuted him.. lied and spit on him..
Barabbas, a prisoner was chosen by the crowd, over Jesus Christ, to be released by Pontius Pilate in a customary pardon before the feast of Passover.
this criminal.. thug.. sinner… who deserved death for his crime was replace by a man that know no sin
when i think of Barabbas i think of me.. that was Barabbas’ cross.. But jesus took his place
that was my punishment ,but he went to hell for me.
he step into my chaos took my pain
they hung him high, they stretched him wide, he hung his head for me he died,
again the earth was filled with total chaos.
Matthew 27:51–53 NASB95
51 And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth shook and the rocks were split. 52 The tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; 53 and coming out of the tombs after His resurrection they entered the holy city and appeared to many.
matt 27:
they rip him off the cross
And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth shook and the rocks were split.
the sun stop shine..
52 The tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised;
53 and coming out of the tombs after His resurrection they entered the holy city and appeared to many.
New American Standard Bible: 1995 update. (1995). (Mt 27:51–53). La Habra, CA: The Lockman Foundation.the sun stop shine..
they rip him off the cross
laid him in a borrowed tomb..
but early one Sunday morning..
i told you there was gonna be a resurrection
Paul says 6 things that if there was no resurrection
1) preaching Christ would be senseless (v. 14)
2) faith in Christ would be useless (v. 14)
3) all the witnesses and preachers of the resurrection would be liars (v. 15)
4) no one would be redeemed from sin (v. 17)
5) all former believers would have perished (v.18)
6) Christians would be t1 e most pitiable people on the earth (v. 19)
but in verse 20 he DECLARES
1 Corinthians 15:20 NASB95
20 But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep.
1 co 15:
Christ has been raised from the dead
(closing)
i told someone once… you know, with a smile on my face. there will be a resurrection..
they looked at me correctingly and said. “there has already been a resurrection.” its already happen.
i laughed and said yes, thank God. but because there has been one.. there will be a resurrection...
not only o we have hope that we can raise us up out of darkness and death.
1 Corinthians 15:45–50 NASB95
45 So also it is written, “The first man, Adam, became a living soul.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit. 46 However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural; then the spiritual. 47 The first man is from the earth, earthy; the second man is from heaven. 48 As is the earthy, so also are those who are earthy; and as is the heavenly, so also are those who are heavenly. 49 Just as we have borne the image of the earthy, we will also bear the image of the heavenly. 50 Now I say this, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.
1 cor 15:
now look at the resurrection that is to come
1 Corinthians 15:51–57 NASB95
51 Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53 For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 But when this perishable will have put on the imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, “Death is swallowed up in victory. 55 “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” 56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law; 57 but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 cor 15:51-
oh victory in Jesus song
O victory in Jesus, My Savior, forever. He sought me and bought me With His redeeming blood; He loved me ere I knew Him And all my love is due Him, He plunged me to victory, Beneath the cleansing flood.
I heard an old, old story, How a Savior came from glory, How He gave His life on Calvary To save a wretch like me; I heard about His groaning, Of His precious blood's atoning, Then I repented of my sins And won the victory.
