How many of you have ever seen God? I haven’t! How do you know that he exists? You believe!

Hebrews 11: 1 Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. 2 This is what the ancients were commended for. 3 By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible. 4 By faith Abel offered God a better sacrifice than Cain did. By faith he was commended as a righteous man, when God spoke well of his offerings. And by faith he still speaks, even though he is dead. 5 By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death; he could not be found, because God had taken him away. For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God. 6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. NIV

  • Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
    • Being sure and certain
      • If I am certain that I have 1 million dollars in the bank will I worry when I go to pay for my groceries? Even if I can’t see the money in the bank?
      •
  • By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.
    • By faith we understand
    • That the universe was formed at God’s command
      • It’s so funny that the world still does not have the answer to this question. Science changes its opinions every couple of years, because they don’t have faith and believe that God did it.

      • There is an understanding that only comes by faith, believing that, that is the way it is.
    • Was formed by God’s command
      • Creative things begin to happen in us when we submit ourselves to his commands.
        • What do you need formed in you?
          • Submit yourself to his commands and it will be formed in you. (Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your hearts. Delighting yourself in him is keeping his commands.

1 John 5:3 This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, NIV

    • So that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.
      • I need to begin to call on the invisible realm to manifest what I need in the visible realm. * I need to stop trying to manipulate the seen world and have faith in God.

  • Without faith it is impossible to please God,
    • because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists
      • I believe… really? Did we believe he was watching us the last time that we did a big sin? Do I believe that he exists when I ignore his conviction and commands?*
      • If you could see God standing in front of you all the time would you act differently? Yes? Then you don’t believe that he really exists!

    • and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him
      • he rewards
        • But I thought he was good to all! Yes, there are his good to all promises and there are the reward promises.
          • Can I do what I want and expect his blessings?

        • The if I do…promises are all conditional.
          • Obey his commands, tithe, humble myself, love others before myself, do not sin….
      • Those who earnestly seek him (The base word in English is to earn something) I thought that it was all by Grace and not by works?*
        • Yes, what God has done for us!
        • Through these he brought us into a position of a son.
          • James 2:20 faith without works is…? dead
          • 2 Cor.9:8 Says he gives us Grace for every good work.

        • This word earnestly means
          • Seek seriously (German word ”Ernst”)
            • We are not playing church Seek personally*
            • Don’t let others live your relationship for you (big brother life)
          • Seek totally
            • Don’t be half hearted
          • Seek constantly
            • Don’t go to sleep

Ps 56:9 The very day I call for help, the tide of battle turns. My enemies flee! This one thing I know: God is for me! (TLB)

Rom 8:31

31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? (KJV)

IS GOD FOR YOU?

Are you for Him?
