Introduction
You are not made to be restrained by the restrictions of this world.
The frustration that some of us feel at times stems from the fact that our spirit man knows there is more inside of us than our natural minds will allow.
The enemy of your soul works diligently at trying to infuse just enough fear and doubt into your life that he can effectively diffuse your faith.
Matthew 11:
John had prepared the way before the Lord just as he had been ordained to do.
Imagine that after all he went through and living a life of service to the coming Messiah and then winding up in a prison, John might have had some questions.
Perhaps he began to doubt that he had successfully fulfilled God’s mission for his life.
God’s victory
So many times we would like to have a better handle on the situation, to be able to be able to say we always live in perfect alignment with the purposes of the kingdom.
The plain truth is faith will always be required in kingdom living.
There are just some things we have to trust God for.
That’s why we are His servants and not the other way around.
In fact, if we reverse roles and try to make God our servant, we will always be frustrated.
But if we accept our role as servants of the Most High God we will always live with a sense of wonder and awe!
1 Samuel 17:45-46
Without the help of God, David was a goner.
But David had that child-like faith that told him that God was always with him, regardless of the situation.
It is David who would later pen the words:
Psalm 139:7-
I would suggest to you this morning that God is unwilling to let any of us live for a second on this planet without being within the immediate vicinity because of the great love and care He has for us.
Feeling Less Than
There are times we must admit that we would like to feel we have more of a hand in the miraculous.
We sometimes make the mistake of discounting the part that we play in the process.
After a while we can begin to wonder what our true purpose is and if we are fruitful at all.
But instead of allowing ourselves to get down in our spirit, let’s look at what the Lord Himself says.
In the places you feel dry and scorched He says that you SHALL be like a WELL WATERED GARDEN.
There have been many times that I felt I had nothing to offer but God brought ministry out of my life in a way that I couldn’t have imagined.
Trust in what He speaks over you this day, you are the conduits of blessing that will change the world as it appears today.
There is nothing wrong with hard work, I am a firm believer in it.
But there are just some things that we have to have faith for which means your surrender to His action.
If we need anything, we need a sensitivity to know when the Holy Spirit is saying we have done our part and now it’s time to surrender to what the Lord does next.
Remember last week we said that He is the God that excels in the absolutely impossible.
God rejoices over us this morning, there is no way He could possibly love us more.
He has such wonders in store for us and it does not matter what stands before us trying to intimidate us, there is none that can stand before our God!
The Lord of Breakthrough
2 Samuel 5:18
2 Samuel 5:19
Philistines- This powerful tribe made frequent incursions against the Hebrews.
There was almost perpetual war between them.
They sometimes held the tribes, especially the southern tribes, in degrading servitude (; ); at other times they were defeated with great slaughter (; ).
These hostilities did not cease till the time of Hezekiah (), when they were entirely subdued.
They still, however, occupied their territory, and always showed their old hatred to Israel ().
They were finally conquered by the Romans.
M. G. Easton, Easton’s Bible Dictionary (New York: Harper & Brothers, 1893).
Baal-Perazim is one of the names of God given in the Old Testament which means the Lord of Breaking Through!
The way that the Lord overcame the Philistines was so odd that Isaiah speaks of it,
Isaiah 28
