Don’t Leave, Wait on the Promise

Acts 1:4

Acts 1:4 NKJV

4 And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me;

God we are excited about the gift in the promise, open our eyes to see you , open our ears to hear...

After the death of Jesus, we know that the people were still on high alert. The fact that He resurrected certainly had people in an uproar.

At this time, various ones had Jesus sightings...

We find in the latter part of the book of John, that while the disciples were gathering Jesus just pops up.

Jesus had a habit of just popping up… imagine you cooking grits and Jesus shows up out of no where...

Acts: An Introduction and Commentary a. Prologue (1:1–5)

Jesus instructed the apostles to stay in Jerusalem until they received the promise of the Father. Here promise means concretely ‘the thing promised by the Father

Something is Holy Spirit nickname.

Because we always say something told me...

We ought to know He’s not a thing, but Holy Spirit...

I have a couple of questions about them waiting...

Why…What’s the reason waiting? What was so big about the promise of the Father?

Somebody say wait on the promise..

4 And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; 5 for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

To baptize literally means to immerse a person in water or to deluge him with it, usually as a means of cleansing.
